I was just lead climbing last night (I had a great night of climbing BTW) at my local gym in St Paul. I won't give names, but I am VEry happy to have a climbing gym near me. Anyway, I took a couple of 3 foot falls on a 5.9 climb. No big deal, but each time the bolt made a popping sound. Should I have been scared? I did notice that the bold below it had a ring around it where the texturing was broken on the surface. [ This Message was edited by: pelliott on 2002-05-30 07:31 ]

I went to that gym once, and I absolutely loved it. Never did any lead climbing though.

They must have fixed it. I went back and did the same climb with no popping sound this time. It was probably just starting to get loose. I still haven't sent the thing though. I keep making it to that same spot, so I have had ample opportunity to examine that bolt and it looks good. I think the VE in St Paul is better than the one that pianomahn says is so bad in Illinois. They are regularly changing ropes and changing routes. They just put a new texture on the walls in the pit area. I have been generally pleased. Yeah, things are changing at the one I have so much despised. New people, new policies. Tis a good thing, I spose.
