hi, I won this piece of gear but am not sure its exact purpose. it generally looks like a quickdraw, one carabiner with a built-in short draw. except the carabiner is heavier (beefier) than the typical quick draw. the wiregate on the carabiner is stiffer than my other wiregates. as best as I can tell, the manufacturer name is aludesign (on the web, this appears to be an italian company but they don't have any website content). I'm guessing that this piece is a specialized draw for clipping into your first piece of gear? Or perhaps it's a beefy piece for belaying a second off the anchor (there's a slight notch in the bottom of the carabiner about the size of the rope width)? don't have a picture but if anyone knows about this piece of gear, I'd like more info. thanks.

sounds like a crappy quality 'draw. My friend had some wire gates that he bought for $5 a 'draw! but the tension on the wiregate was so ridiculously hard they weren't used much. be happy you didn't pay for it.
