I've been away for a while, but it's nice to see the library of photos growing. Here's my newest addition. Anyone else holding back?

that's a nice setup. How'd you make those A frames / what is it anchored to the ground with?

my pics not nearly as cool of a location, but its right in my back yard!

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the feedback. I encourage you to rate the photo too, if you like it.

There are basically 4 anchors at each end. They are made of 1/2 rebar that was bent into a "J" shape. Simply pound them in with a sledge, and pry them out with a pick. The A-frame is just two 2 X 4's with a 1 inch wooden dowel inserted at the at the center of the X. The bottoms of the 2 X 4's are pointed for traction. You can also tie a piece of webbing parallel to the ground (towards the bottom) to prevent spreading if the ground isn't soft enough.

My buddy Scott Balcom rigged this line for some photos he wanted to add to his book. I took some step by step rigging photos for him. Keep an eye out for the book...he's developed some really simple but effecting rigging techniques that have yet to be shared.

And yes...it was a windy day.

though i dont have any pics myself, i just wanted to comment on jetasun's slackline. It ROCKS. The landscape is just out in the middle of no-where, i think. It gives the pic a great feel, i wanna go there.

I just got my digital camera last Friday so I shot a few. Keep in mind I barely had any light before sunset so there are a few shadows.

Here are a *few* that I took.

So, I just finally got the pix back from this summer when I set up my line in my new back yard. Check out my album Back Yard Slackin

Since this is an Ethos line therealbovine, Sean, any thoughts on ways to improve yoru system?

Others, your thoguhts, There are lots of ppl here who have set up more and better lines than I, so I am lookign for advice...

The walkable line is 50' long....and as you can see, I was still short by 25' to my second anchor. I built an A frame, but I still can't get enoguh tension so my 180 lbs can walk the line without sinking to teh ground abotu 10 feet from either anchor.

ANywho, thoughts woudl be good, as I won't have it set up all winter, but will look to perfect my rigging before this spring so lil_cwboy can play next year.

Yo russman - your "A-frame" looks like you stole it from an 8-year old's tree fort. Check out a real A-frame setup in the top post of this thread. See why it's called an A-frame?

As for getting your line tighter, try adding a pulley advantage (or ellington) and attaching it to the pull strap for your ethos line. This should increase your pulling power by quite a bit.

Keep experimenting and you'll develop a system that works good for you.

Funny, I looked at about 5 or 6 different websites and designs before I cobbled that together using left-over lumber from my recenlty completed deck. I mostly designed it like that so I woudl ahve a flat surface for the line.

I did re-do a Previous Post describign and showing better pix....The Ethos system is like an Ellington system... John adn I were tlakign this AM...I think i am gonna have to put more MA on the opposite end, where I have a lot further to teh phone pole, maybe ditch the A-Frame, and add way more MA...check out the other post and see if that made more sence

Thanx Chill

True.

That way, when you fall off the slackline onto your driveway and break your ankle, you can just hobble over to the bed of the truck while your buddy drives you to the ER.

Ouch!!!

You slackliners are crazy...

As far as simple A-frames go, these pics should clear things up some. :)
