He he... I love lingo. I'm considering including some aspect of climber jargon in my Linguistics thesis. If you have any ideas, send 'em my way... Thanks!

Ditto with climbsomething! I've visited that page a bit and have plenty of the lingo integrated into my speech. I enjoy talking with lingo, but sometimes I forget that my friends who've never been climbing before don't understand terms like "crux", "trad", and "whipper". I've gotta get them to the gym sometime!

I always think up new words to describe indoor holds. We have a frog face, da wang (note the da for funks sake ), and a bunch of others that come up as we see 'em. About the linguistics paper, I say do it, add a whole jargon section describing different jargon for professions and hobbies and how even those change based on cultural and spacial differences (it'd fill up some space if you could cite it)

Crag, I actually did the same thing last week. I have this lame linguistics class, and I decided to talk about specialized vocabulary so I opened up with a description of my weekend: I did my first trad lead, it was a pretty easy 5.6, but the crack to face part was pretty hairy. By the time I got a couple nuts and cams in, I'd found a bomber hold, so I was stoked, but then when I got to the top I had a majorly run out ledge. What sport am I talking about? People loved it. My teacher loved it. Good luck.

on my latest project there is the sweet crimper, then nothing untill 5 feet up where you have to dyno to a huge sloper, I heard someone onsighted it but I think they lied and really flashed it. Damn ego based chippers! Anyways, I redpointed it after taking a whipper on a manky bolt. fun stuff, eh?

He he... yeah. Climber lingo is great! my favorite descriptor for just about anything (within the world of climbing or without): "epic!" It's such a great word!
