My plan to climb the Badge with BWT this weekend has unraveled...due to a very sore and inflamed tendon. I know, aid climbing is sometimes a haven for the injured, but I can't make a fist, so I want to get better to salvage the rest of the season...

So, even though I will climb it anyway, anybody have any comments on the quality of the Sheriffs Badge? Any recent ascents? Any errors or other comments I should know about if I am using the McLane guide?

If the finger allows, I'll be in Squish for some long weekends in July. A month later than planned but better than not at all.

I haven't been on it but have heard it is stellar. I am planning to solo it in a day this summer. Mclane guide book is a bit weird. It says somewhere that it is eight pitches and then somewhere else that it is ten. If you do it I would love to hear about it.

Holly,
First let me say "welcome" it's good to have another Seattleite in here, especially one who aids!

The Sheriffs Badge is no simple undertaking, but then what walls are?
At A3+ there is definitely potential for some long falls.
How are your copperheading skills? You'll need lots of them, and lots of faith, and luck, for the fixed ones.

Best of luck,

Jeff

P.S. the North gully descent can be difficult with heavy loads, so be careful!

About that gully. That is why I will be trying to do it in a really long day. If the copperheading is in seams it shouldn't be too bad but if it is some open corner type thing it gets hard since you have nothing to really paste the head into. The pictures I saw of a guy on the fourth pitch made it look pretty cool. So have fun.
