The front page on this site is about hundred yards wide. Is this happening to any one else?I hope it's not just my computer.

Nothing is amiss that I'm aware of. The site looks like it normally does -- with both browsers I use; IE and Firefox. I'd bet you have a setting that got hosed on your PC, but I can't possibly think of what would cause it. Ed

When I'm at work my computer does this as well (not at home). It is still possible to navigate the site, and it only seems to happen on the front page. I'll try the refresh trick and see what happens. Josh

Just guessing, but what is your screen resolution? 1024X768 or higher?

handjammer - its not like the screen is a little wide... I have to scroll for like an eternity to get to the thread links.... refreshing doesn't work... I'm at work too when this error comes up. It just started last week. Any ideas how to correct?

It's been a mile wide on my screen too. I only use IE, and I also have a dinosaur computer, so I thought it was just me (refresh doesn't work, and I didn't touch my settings). But I was just putting up with it cos I am so used to having a difficult old beast of a computer

use the help desk to submit a bug when this happens; it will record the user-agent string for your browser (as I told a submitter earlier this morning, the HTML for the front page validates, however there are numerous possible CSS incompatibilities that may have been introduced) and the contents of any cookies accessible to this site (eg. the cookies that we set in the first place). If I can determine a pattern I will find that sort of browser (assuming this is an IE bug) and poke around in the stylesheet until it is resolved. The problem we had some time ago with profiles 'disappearing' under Safari was a CSS implementation bug (as in, Safari had a bug) which was easy to resolve. If this is a Microsoft bug, the workaround may be more tedious, but I'm fairly confident that it is soluble. On the off chance that anyone remembers when this problem first started occurring, PM me and I'll take a look at the changelog to see what might have triggered it. I have exams this week so I will not make any promises regarding an ETA. I'll look at it when I can, though.

In reply to: If I can determine a pattern I will find that sort of browser (assuming this is an IE bug) and poke around in the stylesheet until it is resolved. I also experienced this problem. I use IE 5.5 on Windows ME. (Can't be worse than this.) Just to be more precise: only the "Featured Photo", "Gear Reviews", "Free Subscription" and "Elsewhere on the Web" are very wide. The other sections look OK. It also seems that the content of each section is repeated multiple times (one has to scroll far to the right to be able to see the repetitions). fc

Same problem for me. Also started beginning of last week. Windows 2000/IE 5.0 Edit: Refresh doesn't work for me either.
