For those that have been put off by the lack of easier routes at the Quarry, I have good news.

Originally the only climbing under 5.11 was found on the older slab routes. While these offer good climbing, they pale in comparison to the newer and much steeper sport climbs. We have from day one looked for easier climbs on the cliff, but what we thought would be 5.10 always ended up being harder.

Recently, we've been lucky in finding easier sections of rock to bolt. There are now a half dozen climbs from 10b to 10d, with potential for at least that many more in the near future. We have also bolted several more low-end 5.11's. While the majority of the routes at the cliff are still 5.11+ and harder, there are now a few dozen more moderate routes to choose from. I'm also working on putting together a quick and dirty guide that would show the 170 routes now available. Hopefully this will be completed in the next few months. In the mean time, either PM me or hit me up at the crag for route beta. Since the rains seem to be done (for now) most routes now have chalk ratings at their bases once again.

Hope to see you out there.

I'm going to be out there this Sunday (the 13th) and would be happy to show folks around and point them to whatever grades they might be looking for.

Your input on difficulty and quality grades would be much appreciated.

I haven't yet been to the Quarry but will soon. Thanks for all the effort and giving us another local alternative, Louie.

Don't worry, Jay.

There's still some elitist routes.

Many thanks Louie, I appreciate your work on routes of all grades. I just need to find some time to get up there.
