Through all the outdoor pursuits I've enjoyed, climbing seems to have a lifelong avid interest.

The quality of the line and the onsight, those are what really send me. I seek the vertical ballet. I enjoy the real time intuitive solution.

Like evocatively sight reading a jazz piece new to me.

Like cresting a contour at fast speed, unweighting slightly at the transition, then settling in to thigh-deep powder swiftly negotiating a new grove of aspen just like an old favorite.

Like banking deeply and rolling on thru the late-apex, then just enough time to flick the other direction and feel the line beckon me to continue my play all the way up the canyon road.

Like transfering huge power from body to bike, with keen eye and trapeze timing to complete a trials section clear.

Like taking lead and finding a smooth line that accepts the power of hydraulics and plays with that energy through a section of Class 4.

I like the onsight.

And I am never able to express enough my respect, appreciation and love for my life partner, Cheri.

Our home is commonly a base camp for new friends traveling.

I live in a shared house and we have a guest bedroom for visiting artists, climbers, musicians, and chefs. As long as you help cook meals, or shop for food or clean up you're welcome to stay. Easy on/off I-5 and simple bus or bicycle to downtown or capitol hill.
