That's fucking crazy. Is slack lining really worth it?

If I had a death wish I'd more than likely jump up there, on the other hand, I don't...and I can hardly walk a 30 ft. line 6 feet high....let alone one 1000 ft. high

First let me say that I don't know anything about slack lining, but isn't webbing rather than rope the standard?

milesenoell wrote: First let me say that I don't know anything about slack lining, but isn't webbing rather than rope the standard? You are correct. I believe he's using Amsteel Blue static, a very light (12 lbs per 100 meters) extremely strong (nearly 9 ton SWL) rope. I've never tried to walk a round line, but with my (limited) highline experience, I can tell you that rigging a similar line with similar breaking strength with tubular webbing would be extremely heavy. I imagine Dean is using this stuff to simplify, but I wouldn't call it slacklining anymore. Thanks for posting this! It looks like an amazing spot.

uhmm... this isn't bouldering... also.. Dean's got enough highlining experience that i bet he'd be fairly comfortable catching the line.. perhaps not. The thing's he's been doing is putting him into the "not if but when" catagory

I don't get the snake charm that has you fellers mesmerized by this man. And I totally don't get the 'suicide' talk coming from climbers. You boys ain't climbers are you? You probably have convinced yourselves climbing is 'safe' and normal people do it? Hah! DMT

I actually thought clown-lining was lame. But this week I set one up in our camp site here in Vail. Two days later Im going 15 feet pretty well. Over an abyss is another thing completely. And why isnt this in the Clown-lining forum?

i suck at slacklining so i appreciate the skills it takes to do it.. i just think doing it with no tether is a useless risk. "look what i can do!" so? and my original post was wondering why majidiot can't seem to figure out how to post things in the appropriate forums

Haha, I like it! I need to rock that at Seneca sometime. After a 10+ year hiatus, I came back to find the divide between various disciplines had only grown stronger. Fuck it, I love it all.

ehh.. i think it's only divided in the minds of those who won't accept anything else into their head. you figure the best climbers in the sport do almost all 3.. Daniel woods climbs v15.. .14++, and is from CO so i'm sure he can throw down a .hard trad line if put up to it. bouldering makes my sport and trad climbing better.. trad makes my sport better.. sport improves my endurance for bouldering it all helps shirt is a one off iron on so you'll have to make your own ;) Photo credits go to the great Tim Kemple Jr for the back picture.
