Tracy, This really is Geo's gig, but you might wan to expand on the "BIG endeavors" concept. IMO, "Sawatch" is really an old Indian word which loosely translated means "big gravel piles for crazy flatlanders to climb." Other than the Ellingwood Ridge, the only Sawatch "climb" is probably Ice Mountain -- a class 3 or 4 scramble on loose rock and possibly steep snow. It's considered dangerous by many who venture its slopes. If "BIG" means long hiking days, consider the following one-day ascents: Holy Cross -- 12 miles & 5600' Oxford/Belford/Missouri -- 11 miles & 5900' Harvard/Columbia -- 14 miles & 5900' Other long days can be made by linking two or more close 13ers. Choose your favorite, but the Sawatch range is generally the land of scree and talus hikes, not rock climbs.

hey Geo -- two words back at cha: BITE YOURSELF. Last I checked, the 4Runner in my garage is a 4WD. And believe it or not, some of us flatland feriners actually know how to drive one. BTW, the proper spelling is Porsche. As for the quality of the rock in the Sawatch range (at higher altitudes), nobody will confuse Mount Princeton with, say, the north face of Hallett Peak. Or Crestone Peak. Or most of most of RMNP's Glacier Gorge. Or much of the Sierra Nevada range. Or, ... well, you get the drill. Dude.

hmmm... "grecque" seems a bit too close to "Greek" for my comfort. Given Geo's comments of "Do you use a butt blaster?" during one of my high-step / mantel moves, and of "It's not gay if you're on top.", I'm afraid. I'm VERY afraid. Call me a wus, call me a gurly-man, just call the other "boys" on this wrestlin' thang. I just want to be sure that a certain orifice remains a one-way highway. However, Skibs, if you're hankerin' to get into the ring ......

Actually there are some phenom. climbs to be had. Shorty/Geo next time you have time on your hands trek up Browns Creek, give it about 4 miles. That is down here by Mt. Antero, pilgrim, another of your giant gravel piles. Your eyes will pop. I'm actually headed in there this weekend.

Amber- You'll have to check Frontier Airlines Web specials next Wednesday they usually have killer "week of" travel deals from Dallas/Ft. Worth to Denver...They only post them on Wednesday and you usually have to travel on that Friday or Saturday.

For the folks who need guidebooks to the "Pass": I have ten at the cost of $15.00. I also think that Tom Perkins and Neal Beidleman might joint us for the big-blow-out on Sat. nite. If that is ok with our host (Geo)? Should be a lot of fun. I might be doing some new routes on Sunday. So who wants to help?

Good, that is a start. I need to clean ( lot's of lichen and some dirt) this one crack (looks like 5.11d) and maybe clean and place some bolts on this nice face (maybe 5.10+). Might also work on the trail up to the cliff.

Hey Geo- I did the Brown's Canyon "family pace" rafting thing a few years ago, and I seem to remember seeing some short, 1 pitch, sport and trad routes in the canyon. Are you familiar with those climbs? If people get there early on Friday, would that be a good place to start? Or, are we better off starting at the local tavern?
