Believe it or not, that time frame fits my summer plans perfectly. I'll be in Colorado during that time, so it's a real possibility. :D

I might be able to join in on Sat and Sunday. My schedule is hit or miss. I'd love to take another crack at Cryogenics if someone will lead it on Sun. Also, I think Elbert is a great choice. The slog to the summit is beautiful. Yo Geo. . .I hear that there is a 24 mile backpack that takes you around the Maroon Bells and supposidly up a 14'er, Maroon Bells Pk I'm guessing. Got any beta on it? I want to go ultra-lite and do a little solo trip out there in 3 weeks, depending on the conditions.

Josh called me on my cell to tell me the spectacular news. Of course we're both very psyched, but we'll have to check our date books before we can be sure of anything. We'll keep in touch about it though! P.S. Hey Geo, did you read the thread on Powerbars? Funny schtuff!

I'm there. I just got laid off, so I have a bit of free time... I might even be able to drag some other people along too. :) (If not, I'll need a ride up from Boulder. :P)

What??? I can garantee or your money back that Mntgeo is between 10 and 20 times cooler than any of those guys, including David Lee Roth, Buddy Guy, Little Feat, Ted Nugent, Alice Cooper, Cheap Trick, Marshall Tucker Band and Lewis & Floorwax and the Groove Hawgs. Well, Ok, so maybe not Mr. Kill em and Eat em Nugent, but all those other yahoos for sure.

skibby -- first, allow me to state -- unequivocally and for the record -- that i never ONCE called you a "bail queen". well ... not in THOSE words anyway! second, i would opine that my handlebar moustache MUST count for something in the plus column. third, clint is as cool as they come. and, finally ... lewis & floorwax and the groovehogs? i LOVE those cats!

i am, however, dismayed at your demuring on this one. not that i'm looking to turn casa de geo into a sodom and gomorrah (i mean, geez ... the carpet cleaning bill ALONE would be a b*tch), but ... since statistically there are more men than women climbers, there's always the risk of having what could have been a pleasant, well-balanced shindig turn into an ugly sausage-fest. ick. let's have some female representation on this one fer cryin' out loud!

Sorry, Geo, but I don't think I'm much help on the representation by "the fairer sex." As for the 2am start -- Cheese an' Rice! Even those of us starting in East Egypt (aka Aurora) probably wouldn't drag our backsides out of the sack until 3am or so. Last I remember, Elbert is a big class 1 anthill, maybe worthy of a 7-hour car-to-car outdoor stairmaster. OK, with much better scenery. Well, unless that lithe brunette at Bally's is leading the aerobics class. Oops, I digress. Anyway, I'll pass on Saturday. However, Sunday is a different matter. Pretty certain you can count me in for Monitor Rock (chase those bolts, baby). Bring your new (sorta) rope bag. I'll even bring the trusty stick clip. Dood. Skibby -- I hear a soft chanting in the distance (bail princess ...)

shorty -- geez, what a MAN. you obviously didn't read the INSTRUCTIONS! come up on friday after work and crash at casa de geo. the fun part about getting up early (aside from getting down before the 11am lightning show) is coming down in the morning cool as the thundering masses of corpulent midwestern chuffers are heading up into the heat. don't be a gym climber! REAL mountaineers get up at 2!

i'm flying out to tashkent uzbekistan on sunday, but i will try to make it for friday night and saturday. i am also going to pass on elbert since i've done it before(not because i'm out of shape and don't want to wake up at 2, definitely not), but if anyone is interested in rock climbing in the morning and meeting up with everyone for the bbq let me know.

Well, My Better Half/The Brains of the Operation will also be attending this shindig, so there will be at least one representing the fairer sex. So all you sausage-wielding dirtbags must behave! Also, since we've done Elbert I think we'll head to another nearby 14er/13er on Saturday (la plata?), and meet back up with everyone saturday night. Anyone is welcome to join us, but I can't garentee the fun-hogging hilarity Mntgeo can. 2 am is fun!!!

wow! talk about seredipi ... serendipi ... um ... you know: things working out just so. i've just happen to have walked in the door following a predawn blitzkrieg across the ellingwood ridge. here's a thought: howsabout we do la plata instead of elbert? THAT way, those who want mellow can charge up via the normal route, those who want sporty can tiptoe across the ellingwood ridge ... and those who want to rock climb can go to monitor! or shall we make it a pure rock weekend with climbing at monitor, independence pass and buena vista? you choose. the beer will only get colder; the scotch will mellow. :D

Groovy! I've already done Elbert but not LaPlatta. I'd try a bit harder to make it on Saturday if others decide to go up LaPlatta!
