It was a beautiful warm day at Little Falls. Had a good time! Started at the Dihedrals. TRed a 5.6 and a 5.8, then led Devil Won't Care, Twin Cracks, and finished w/ a TR run on Day Tripper. Then I went over to Moss Island. Did some bouldering and stuff. A fine day. All in all I had a fine day! I enjoyed meeting some cool folks, and got in some very good climbing. Thanks y'all for sharing! GO

Anyone climb at the Niagara Climbing Center? What's it like? How far is it from Depew? Do they have a new web address? The www.niagaraclimbingcenter.com address isn't working...

Hey, cool, a NY climbers thread. Can us NYC gymrats play also, or is this for "real" climbers? (this is where Taino rips me to pieces!) Well, I'm back. I'd like to say I'm bad to, but I'm actually about four months out of training and a few pounds overweight at that. But hey, getting married will do that to you. Luckily, the Sandals resort in Ocho Rios, Jamaica where my wife and I spent our honeymoon, had a great climbing wall. I thought it would be dinky, but I brought my shoes and chalk along with me just in case, and I was not dissapointed. I might not have been dirtbagging it at the Gunks, but climbing a well-set wall in tropical island heat followed by a dip in a refreshing resort pool where I could swim up to the bar for a daquari more than suffices. I jokingly told my wife if she could send a route on the wall that I would do all of the cooking and cleaning when we got home. I even lent her my shoes and chalk, and gave her lots of beta. And you know what? I've got a whole lot of cooking and cleaning ahead of me to do... Great to hear that Adam is back, I hope he enjoyed his travels. Hope all is well with Taino and Happiegrrl. Maybe I'll run into you guys at the gym or in the area soon.

I'll be in the Southern Tier area (Corning) in a couple weeks. Any suggestions on places to climb as an easy day trip, potentially half-day (I am suppose to be going to spend time with family). Top rope, sport, trad, bouldering.... it's all good. Thanks Jen

Yes, that was I on Disneyland with Terrie and Niru; is this Charlie? I didn't connect either of you with your screen names. Jason - welcome back, and congratulations on your recent marriage. However, you do need to at least attempt to climb outside. Geez. :P T

:) Cool - NY State thread! All that is rock - had fun climbing with you and RyanV weekend B4 last. We'll have to link up again sometime at the Gunks. I'm still up for a trip to Rumney for some forearm thrashing and bolt-clipping, too... Went to the Adirondacks this weekend. Beautiful on Saturday, but cold, grey and windy on Sunday. My girlfriend and I were trying to find Shanty Cliff using the Don Mellor ADKS climbing guide, but didn't go far enough down Route 8. So we ended up bushwacking up what we now believe was Corner Mtn. Definitely no big face to climb, but we did stumble across some cool smaller faces (15 - 30'), a couple of which we cleaned a little and (quite possibly) made first ascents of. A short 5.5 and another route in the 5.9 range. On the way down from the mtn. we saw lots of potential boulder problems and a short, steep face (30') that would make some good pumpy climbing (if dry). On Sunday morning we found the real Shanty Cliff, but given the cold, chilly weather and our combined lack of enthusiasm for wading across the river, we headed home. We'll be back, Shanty Cliff!

Congratulation jpearl, on your marriage. I didn't notice you not being at the gym, because I haven't been there myself....damned work!#%@&*!!! But....I have a plan to be rid of the pesky substance(well, at least the part that is hindering me from getting to the gym at night and - with luck - will also give me Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!) I am supposed to be leaving for AlaGeorgia (and Tennessee, too) this Thursday, to climb with dirtineye.....but alas, he broke his damned elbow yesterday! And NOT while climbing (rock, anyway). I am still going to go, unless he backs out, and intend to take full advantage of the handicap in any way possible. ummmm....can a person belay with their arm in a cast?????

Nope. But I'm reserving a copy from R&S, just in case. :D Edited to say: Spoke with Rich Gottlieb at R&S; the new Gray Dick will be in-store earliest Friday, latest Monday - and they'll have hundreds of copies, so no need to call and reserve ahead of time. I'm glad I'll be up there this weekend. :D T

Looking for a partner or partners for this Saturday, May 14 to do either some moderate multipitch or to toprope at Peterskill. I can lead 5.6-5.7, follow 5.8-5.9, jug up anything harder. I've got a full rack, and enough webbing/static line to founder a mule. Beginners are welcome (even on multipitch), but you must have your own personal gear (harness, shoes, two locking carabiners, belay device, and HELMET) and you must know how to belay safely. If you don't have a car, I can pick you up at the bus station in New Paltz in the morning. I will not be returning to the City on Saturday night, so you'd have to take the bus back as well. I'll not have internet service after this evening, so feel free to drop me a line at (number deleted). Cheers, T Edited to say: Thank you all; I managed to find someone with whom to climb. Cheers!
