By far the best malt I have ever had, simply fantastic. I feel a little more Scottish then I have for a while. Winter climbing and fine single malts, yurp.

If you have the means, I highly recommend you try this malt.

I prefer thirty eight year olds - for one thing, there's thirty of them, and for another, you could probably get them all for the price of one bottle of that.

I'm not going to pretend I can afford a bottle of it - I happen to know some people, though.

This is why I was very careful to make sure I quoted sungam's post in my reply.

It's OK, I suppose.

It's still nowhere as good as this, however:

Hmmm, never had The Macallen over 10 years, I think. I'll have to check that out.

I also had a wee dram of this guy on sat night:

Good, but not as good as I had expected. I can see why people would like it, though.

I have always wanted to get hold of something made by Bruichladdich, but here in NC the selection is a little too slim. Have you tried their Port Charlotte or Octomore?

No, but I'll keep an eye out for them.
They seem to have one of the largest ranges of specialty malts. I can't imagine the cost of them in the USA, though.

This Macallan is a bit pricey, as well--at $16,400 a bottle.

I usually prefer Johnny Walker Black, but I had to make do with this as a "gift" i found in my fathers collection when he passed on. It was a pretty good balance of taste and goes very well in a Coke Zero. So you mix this in with some ice and Coke Zero and its a real hit. Sadly I was only able to drink half of the bottle, got a little too tipsy and dropped the bottle, shattering it and wasting half, but like I said it wasnt really that good.

These guys are pitching a fit over the old whiskey/whisky gag so I'm already thinking these individuals were suspect characters. Not only that, they claim their grog has a hint of "tingling spices". What are you selling, men's booze or Jagermeister? If you're trying to score with Heather Impetigo and want her to see the sophisticated looking bottle, go for this cat piss. If you're a man like the rest of us with a wife whose a** has dropped like a duffelbag, really annoying children and a boss who's a total d**k-in-the-mouth who needs a good stiff drink or elese he'll pick up an axe and wipe the whole neighborhood, try something else.

Personally, I just got back from a trip to south eastern Mexico and am educating my palate to the finer points of mezcal. Very tasty but definitely an acquired taste; my most memorable whisky still beats out my favorite mezcal though, no matter what they're saying in NY these days.

I wasn't making a joke.

I would never drink neat whiskey. It just doesn't appeal to me.
I've not had any of those really expensive whiskeys, the most expensive I've had was a johnny blue label, and it isn't as nice as a cheap ass bottle of Jameson.

Whiskey is awesome with appletiser:

You don't have appletiser and it's a shame, because it's awesome.

I hope to desecrate a really expensive whiskey post haste.

Was this your experience?

Nose: Orange and chocolate, gentle sweetness, woody, oily. Hot, buttery pastry.
Palate: Light, clean. Grenadine, peppery oak. Sweetness and a subtle salinity.
Finish: Medium length, dry, spiciness.

To be honest, Jameson is one of the best cheap whiskeys I've encountered. Occupies a special place in my broke-ass pallet, alongside Eagle Rare bourbon, and ... you know, I don't think I've ever had a proper single-malt that cost less than $50 a bottle. Except for that $8 bottle that tasted like tequila. That was weird.

To be sure, that just means my single-malt tastes aren't bargain basement scotches, but still hardly "good" by some standards...

In all seriousness, though, I'm just coming to the end of a rather nice bottle of 10yo Laphroaig. Unfortunately my next duty-free opportunity won't be for a while.
