Well, I'm ready to admit that I zero talent for gardening. I've killed yet another plant, this time a basil. I have a black thumb -- a dark, malicious thumb, underneath the weight of which all flora is effectively doomed.

Take note of how Morticia cares for her plants.
Our garden is doing very well... Still just starting this season, but we'll have squash in a week or so:

The secret with gardening is, once you finish with the hoe you stop and have a sigarette.

I have had cucumbers from my attached greenhouse, but we are in the coldest may on record. Hopefully that changes this weekend. I have 66 tomato plants to put out, more watermelon and cantaloupe than those, plus peppers, squash, cucumbers etc. Last year everything was so late that I left 400 watermelon and over 1,000 winter squash in cold storage that I rototill under. I may be able to sell winter squash yet at the first June farmer's markets if they can hold their quality one more month, but the customers know I am not importing them. All of my early stuff is waiting for warm weather to take off. The farmers lost their field corn which took 29 degree temps recently and died off, although the growing point is below the surface so they have to wait for the sun to see if they have to replant.

We've been unsuccessful with basil for the last few summers. I think it's a tough one that requires the right growing conditions (which we haven't figured out). If you killed a spider plant OTOH...

My strawberries are ready to start picking, but they just aren't getting very sweet. I've left them on longer than my kids wanted to see if they'll sweeten up a bit. I've got a couple of rasberries starting to pop out. I noticed two roma tomatoes growing the the plant that is only about 12 inches tall at this point. And my cucumbers are coming up quite nice. Some of the cucumbers, along with a few other things, are spread around the garden due to the flood moving seeds. At this point, I can't tell if some of the green coming up are weeds or vegis because of that.

I managed to kill desert sage when I lived in Arizona.... where desert sage grows naturally and in great abundance. You are less nurturing than a desert <-- Demitri martin comedy.

I think the fundamental equation in the subject is incorrect. Perhaps gardens/me=death. I'll let the mathematicians figure out a better mathematical formula for your herbigenocidal activities.

My first foray into gardening was when I was about 6 or 7. I planted a bunch of bulbs and promptly proceeded to pound the ground with a hammer. Had to make sure they were well and truely bedded in. They never did come up, I can't understand why.

If you want help, you'll need to tell us more. Did it get hit by cold or did it die soon after being transplanted into the garden?

Maybe you should start with some mint and dill. It's hard to screw up with weeds.
