Gallatin Tower
About Gallatin Tower:
A clean, narrow tower, the main gneiss formation on the west (highway) side of the canyon. The popular routes can be well protected with traditional gear (stoppers and hexes, in addition to cams) but -- as with other Gallatin gneiss formations -- this is not always plug-and-play climbing. Cracks are irregular; loose or blocky rock exists; and leaders need to place gear efficiently, sometimes from awkward positions. Jamming skills often help. |
