The archaeological complex of Hatun Machay and the stone forest is located near the Farmer Community of Pampas Chico, Pampas Chico district, province of Recuay, Department of Ancash, at 4290 msnm.
In the Department of Ancash, at 69 km to the south from the city of Huaraz, on the Black Mountain Range, in the km 131, before the Conococha lagoon; one of the most important petrel%u2019s forests of the country is located. A dirt road trail is crossed half an hour towards the west until arriving at a little valley to take another deflection, to advance a little in car till you get the refuge.
From Huaraz there is no public transportation straight to the place, are different ways to arrive if it is not counted on own mobility:
* It is possible to be taken a Private Bus towards Lima and to be dropped off in km 131, from there to walk by deflection to the west, 1:30 hs. Approx. till you get Hatun Machay.
* Another way to arrive there is taking a public bus until the town of Catat; from here taxis can be taken to the Refuge of Hatun Machay.
* Andean Kingdom offers private transport to Hatun Machay everyday.
