I guess it is a little bit like driving on the Interstate. It seems like people are going really fast until you get into it, then you think everyone is goin to damn slow.

Pain meds still working sometimes, but physical therapy is the suck. My knee is fecked up. My wife won't let me chase the percocet with bourbon. It's be a whole lot cooler if she would.

It would be incredibly UNLIKELY that anyone would be newly prescribed oxycontin for a broken fibula. Oxycontin is the trade name for oxycodone with a time release coating; might have anywhere from 10-160 mg per tab. Highly abused/highly addictive when people crush and thus negate the time-release coating. Immediate release oxycodone would be 5-15 mg per tab, most common form of Percocet = 5 mg this/325 mg apap. I cannot count the times that I've had a patient lying in bed after a bad car accident or fall, face bashed in, lots of rib fx, maybe a leg in traction, and their family is absolutely cool with them being on copious amounts of iv drugs (and most likely, they just don't recognize the names of the medications we tend to use)....but when we are trying to wean sedation and make them wake up, there is ALWAYS a horrified mother that thinks that her son is going to become a raging oxycontin addict the second a tiny dose of oxycodone hits his system....and then I have to take take 30 minutes out of an already busy day trying to break down her misconception of the two drugs so that she will let me do my job and take care of her son... ARRGGGHH. oxycontin IS always oxycodone, but oxycodone is NOT always oxycontin. End of my rant and back to the subject, sucks to be out of commission, hope you feel better!

The last time I did this 16 years ago, they immobalized my knee for a couple of weeks. That made rehab difficult. This time (after the procedure has evolved a bit) they had in phys therapy the next day. I've almost gotten my full range of motion with it and can walk without crutches without a limp. I'm still supposed to be on the crutches though to give some internal stiches time to do their thing, so I'm still gimping around. I'm off the percocet and back on the booze, though I still have constant pain. Well, it would probably be pain for a lesser man, but its really just a bit of discomfort for me. Marge, I'm glad you're doing better as well. Be glad you only broke your leg and didn't feck up your knee as well.
