mturner wrote: Agreed. Next topic: Do the Pats show the Jets any mercy? (thus showing that they do have a smidge bit of class) The Patriots will execute their gameplan. Period. if the Jets don't have a good enough counter plan, they will find themselves on the wrong side of a wide margin. All the local sports guys who have talked to Belechick say the same thing. He has nothing to prove. He has lead his team to 13-0, playoffs, first round bye. And Mangini and the Jets will be playing golf in January. Like Ditka said, it's not the Patriots job to "go easy", it's the opponent's job to stop them.

Take away the 7 points from the blocked punt, look at time of possession, first downs, and pretty much any other statistic, and the game was not as close as it looked. The thing that has been exposed repeatedly in the last three weeks was the Patriots lack of running game. Today was sleet, snow, rain and 20 MPH winds and the Patriots passing game suffered accordingly. But the did rush Maroney for over 100 so that may be a glimmer of hope.

Take away the 7 points from the blocked punt, look at time of possession, first downs, and pretty much any other statistic, and the game was not as close as it looked. Not as close in what way? In that the Jets kicked themselves in the foot so many times, that they just as easily could have won? And they both had scores off block punts...granted the Pats was an all-exciting 1 yard run. Here's some stats: First downs - 13 Jets, 16 Pats Net Yards - 236 Jets, 265 Pats Time of Possession - 26:23 Jets, 33:37 Pats Not exactly dominating. I'd say those stats suggest an even closer game than 10 points. But as long as we're doing what if's...Take away the sloppy INT at the beginning, the ONLY offensive touchdown that the Patriots had today which was off a blocked punt...then the Jets easily walk away with a win today. But hey, we've been through this before and that's why they play the game. Nice job Pats, you can finally rest knowing you're a slightly better team than the 3-11 Jets...great job!

jakedatc wrote: do you HONESTLY think the Pats are only *slightly* better than the Jets? 14-0 3-11 the Pat's beat them in both meetings in 2 different weather conditions in 2 different styles. Let's compare their similar opponents.. You're the one that wants all the excuses to stop and just look at how the game was played. Bottom line, yesterday the Jets were only slightly worse than the Pats. I don't care about all the other games, I'm only talking about yesterday. Tom Brady put up worse numbers than Chad Pennington for chrissake and after all the talk about putting up 70 points, I think that deserves some credit. And as for the two different weather conditions...fine, more power to you. I hope you feel confident enough in your performance against the 3-11 Jets AT HOME to play another snow game against the Colts, Chargers, Steelers, or even the Jags. 14-0 or 0-14, I like the chances of the Pats losing in the playoffs!

You had "a running game" against the Jets...who are ranked 30th in the league in run defense!! 30th!!! What's more, the Pats only had 131 total rush yards which is actually less than the average amount the Jets give up. But hey, I'm sure you'll have just as good of luck running against the 5th ranked Jags' run defense in the playoffs.

That's because the Raiders are the most pitiable team in the NFL, ironically ever since Mt. Davis himself coined "Just win, baby." Going to post the worst defeat in decades, even though your team's already sunk to 15-48 these past few seasons? Pull a more violent, NFL-version of Michelle Wie and get your entire defense to try and get themselves ejected. If you can't win, you at least apparently have to find another way to keep that freak show known as the Raider Nation paying for season tickets... or at least willing to shell out $20 for a pass to sit in the Coliseum parking lot and get drunk, crunk, and fuuuucked up during games. On another note, what would really make my offseason would be if Warren Sapp managed to asphyxiate Trent Dilfer with one of Robert Gallery's weaves so that Shaun Hill can stay on as starting QB so my Niners can have a winning season next year. Assuming no coaches jump ship, Norv Turner style. Ah... one can dream.

Although lately I have become more of a gym boulderer... *cringe* How are things here? Did I miss anything? One more note to keep this thread related: FUCK YOU, NFL NETWORK!!!
