And that is why 75% of the harnesses on the market suck ass. IMHO that is a major issue. Its just fucking stupid. The thing is most people (n00bs) are to stupid to notice.

It could all be easily fixed if they would put two of those fancy buckles on the waist belt. But if they do that then they put buckles and extra shit on everything else.

Way back in the day Petzl harnesses were really bad in that respect. The padded part was the same size for all the sizes and the would just put a longer tail on the belt. Then they would attach the legloops to the back where it seemed like the middle. They had that attachment point in the middle of the gear loops sometimes and the "side" loops would be in the back of the harness!Crazy

Most harnesses on the market are teh suck.

I was lookgin at getting both a Bigwall harness for the planned aid and for mty new routing (better racking system and hammer holster built in, more comfy on extended hanging belays while you're waiting for buddy to figure out the pitch...), and gettting a new allround type harnes LIGHTER than the Yates Bigwall.
Got the Yates Bigwall... but...
Well fuck me, I can't find a dam harness I liek enought to spend my money on. So currently I'm doing all my climbing in a Yates bigwall. Except Alpine, I'm still using my old BD DairyQueen Blizzard for that.
Yeah, most have some really nice features. Unfortunately those features don't really overcome the shortcomings.

I'd been climbing on my old TS model for way to long and had to b=suck it up and settle on a harness I wasn't completely psyched about. Fucking Arcteryx! I blame them. I was happy with the harnesses they made and that was pretty much all I ever owned. Now they had to go and make them all fancy. I'm very not impressed with the new ones.

I hear ya. The ORIGINAL Blizzard was a kick ass harness... then they changed it Mad

I'm going to have to keep looking gor a general use harness, untill then I'll use the Yates Bigwall for everything, bulky, but comfy and actually has a good gearloop/racking system.
Agreed, and agreed (in theory). I find I tend to wear my MM Titan for everything other than spurt climbing these days.

It raises a few eyebrows at the bolder-patch, but I figure What The Hell, Why Not?!

MM is hard to get up here, and I try to support the local shops rather than order online even if it means I pay a few $ extra.

I think for me I can get away with the Bigwall easier than some... my stocky build means that proportionately it isn't quite as overkill big on me. When it was brand-spanking-out-of-the-bag new it was stiff as a fucking board, but now it's much nicer to climb in and I'm quite happy on new routes, trad and aid in it. I did get one hell of a look from some guys when I burned up a sport route in it though... Don't thing any of them had seen a swamibelt type closure on a harness before, a few raised eybrows and lots of questions, but I got a good laugh out of their reactions.

Hahahahaaa! I went sport climbing with my arborist tree climbing harness once and got a few funny looks. Definitely sparked up a few conversations once they saw that I actually climb and wasn't just a weirdo. It was VERY comfortable.
