Thanks I guess.
I don't know if I'd call it preggers sexy, but it is different. Kind of like the feisty-red-head in a laytex body-suit sexy. Different.

Though - a totally hetero statement - I thought it would be bigger.
It's 16' wide, actually 16'-4". Bec wanted to make it bigger but our backyard isn't very big nor is our house. I didn't want it to overpower either.

I think it will be big enough, just not big enough for all the La-Z-Boy outdoor furniture crap along with all the normal stuff you have on a deck.

Mabye you can pull off a covert op.
The last time I shot a skunk it made a horrible stink.

If I saw it in our backyard maybe. I could snipe it with a high powered pellet gun or a .22. But I don't have either. And the den is under our front step.

On second thought, the "release" upon death would probably ruin your day/front steps.

Better call animal control.

Or t3h Brent, maybe he can fabricate a trap!
The neighbor, or rather neighbour, has a live trap that he catches them in. Then he has someone take them away.

I think I'll just try to evict them and maybe they will go over there and he can catch them and pay someone to take them away.

I need to get some ammonia. Apparently they don't like the smell of it.

Good news. I sat down with the man and we came to a mutual agreement about my work week. Here's to a permanent long weekend!
Does he want a refund of all the payroll you squandered "working" those extra hours?

Are you salary?
No refun warranted. Sometimes I worked more than I should have sometimes less. It evens out.
Salary. And I took a cut in pay. That was the negotiation. Bruce and I will just have to cut back on food. Kids can eat kraft dinner 24-7
Kraft Dinner isn't that cheap, unless you get it on sale 12 for $5. That's even cheaper than the generic stuff.

I still think it'll be pretty cramped if you try to get a table out there. I'm thinking we'll have to get a little table and some little chairs to make it work. Of course, we can't hardly afford to buy a new table right now :S.

All you need is room for a grill and two lawn chairs.

If you have a party, get the yard involved!

Yaaa Party time on the deck!! Looks awesome. Are you going to treat the cedar? I love the colour of fresh cedar, but then it turns grey. Ours is so grey. I was thinking of sanding it this year.
I love the trellis and flower box. Very nice touch.

You would need to powerwash the deck and use a deck cleaner to make it look nice. Sanding could help get rid of splinters. Is your deck cedar or treated? You can use colored sealer to make the treated look better.

Yes we are going to put a protector on it. The sucky thing with that is you need to keep doing it every couple of years. I shoulda used the composite decking. But that would have made it really expensive.

Oh, and the trellis is just to block the bathroom window. And the flower box is so Bec can plant something that will grow fast to cover the trellis since the stuff growing out of the ground will take a while to get that tall and full.

So in other news, I hate work. Only 4 months in and I'm already burning out. Gah.

Too bad I've got to stick it out till all our renos are done and paid for. And get my PEng. And it would be great to take advantage of them when I have to go in for a couple of surgeries.

But I still hate my job.

Since you know so much about it I'll leave it up to you.

And why do they deserve to live? Do they pay taxes? Do they help the environment?

No. The free load and expel noxious gases into the atmosphere with their stink butts. They dig up and kill plants that could have helped reduce greenhouse gases and in turn the plants rot and fill the sky with greenhouse gases of their own. On top of that they eat animal babies and destroy the nests of ground nesting birds. And they carry rabies. They are one of the most likely of animals to have rabies.

HA! I work for General Motors, they are laying off 70 salaried and over 700 hourly people from their assembly plant in Oshawa, Ontario in September. There are also three plant in Michigan going through similar downsizing. There's a ton of people out there that could do my job. You really think I have anything in the way of bargining power?

It's nothing fancy. Just your basic round deck.

I still need to finish the trellis. I'm still not sure how I want to have the flower box under the trellis.

Sexy!!

Thanks I guess.

Yeeeaaahhh!! Wink

Seriously though, it's a pretty cool lookin' deck. I reckon it'll be big enough to party on or grill on. You guys going to put a flower garden all the way around for people to roll into and pass out?

Soon robots will be doing your job and then you can supervise the robots inspecting the robots and get longer weekends.... until they get robots to inspect the robots who inspect the robots.... then you will have an endless Saturday.

I didn't build the front step.

I put chicken wire around the perimeter of the deck and buried it to hopefully keep them out of under there.

But getting back to our conversation about bodies, I think Doc might have been right. A while back I could smell this skunky nastiness in our basement. I think it might have been the skunks under the step.
