I'm not planning on making any out of state trips in the immediate future but I was thinking about certain places I might go and wondering if it was dangerous, legally to smoke there. narcs, or patrols, or strict drug patrols/enforcement/penalties??
places I'm thinking of are smith rock and zion or other places in Utah. Anyone have stories of people getting busted after getting baked camping and climbing in the west? or anywhere?

In Oregon, possession of less than one ounce of marijuana is a slap on the wrist. An expensive slap ($1000), but they just issue you a ticket and let you be on your way. Highway 97, which takes you to Smith Rock, is widely known as a drug running highway. Cops are all over it looking to fuck with you. I suggest following the speed limit if you are traveling with ganja.
I have no idea about Utah, but I have a feeling that they are probably more strict about marijuana as a result of the LDS influence in that state.
