Okay, so it's November now, and cold. I'm itching. How many are in, and how many spaces are still TBD? If the damn sun would stay up late one day maybe I could go farm Silver Spoon one of these days. Wait, better idea - quit job, go ice climbing indefinitely. I'm sure there'll be a job waiting for me in May...

Trying to resist the urge to comment... Must not comment. Must not say anything...

Oh, the heck with it.

Chicklet: I'm a guy. I have a... um... "connection" to bones. (See Geo's post about timber and solid steel. It's a guy thing, you wouldn't understand. ;) )

Besides, they're cool.

I could, if you wanted, use a picture of a open cranial vault fracture, where you could see the guy's brain. Nasty stuff, and that pic has made more than one person lose their lunch.

P.S. Martha: I sent my $$ for the deposit today. Forgot to send it on Friday. Sorry.

Hey, the crowds are gathering, and the excitement continues to build! Latest news:

EL VEZ IS COMING!!!!!! EL VEZ IS COMING!!!!!!!

Are you talking about this El Vez?

http://www.princesf.com/photos/el-vez.jpg

Where's he playing?

And about the festival, I'd love to attend but their's not much chance we could afford to at the moment, so some other time. Have fun.

Clinic sign-up is now available with the information listed on the festival webpage ( http://www.ourayicefestival.com/clinics.htm ). I thought that particularly Malcolm's and Ed Viesturs' clinics might be interesting. Anyone want to do one or more of these midday as a group (morning being too chilly, and afternoons being reserved for us leadin' stuff)?

[quote:281b108afc="skibabeage"]Geo's already been on ice this year, so it's forming nicely. What a spectacular year/event this is going to be![/quote:281b108afc]

indeed. i was in ten-mile canyon this afternoon and things [i:281b108afc]are[/i:281b108afc] shaping up nicely. i ran a couple of laps on [i:281b108afc]tony's nightmare [/i:281b108afc]and [i:281b108afc]around the corner[/i:281b108afc] ... and they are coming right along. thin, to be sure -- in fact i had to use three birdbeaks in a row *gulp*; one was tied-off *double gulp* -- but coming along nicely.

oh, i've also been on the ice at lincoln falls -- in the hoosier pass area -- several times, and [i:281b108afc]that's[/i:281b108afc] looking good.

[b:281b108afc]a word to the wise: [/b:281b108afc]check the backcountry avalanche conditions before you go. where we climbed today, in the ten-mile canyon area of I-70 (here in colorado), we observed signs of recent activity. as well, the colorado avalanche information center today reported a slide that was 300 feet wide. i don't recall where in colorado it took place, but it certainly is portentous.

regards,

geo

Im getting ready Geo: Its 7F outside, my windows are open its 45F in my bedroom as i type this. I just found out my new tools(Pulsars) are enroute and Im now carrying my Ice and Snow gear in the Truck at all times. I walked about a mile to grocery to take in the crisp single didit air. What else can i do? Oh yeah, I bought a bottle of McAllan Cask Strength HIghland Single Malt tonight, so im almost there, just help me to round out my tick list to make this the event of the winter season.
And im Avail next weekend to get cold and bold with my sharpie thing-a-ma-jiggs.
And dont drink that red bull crap, itll make your hair fall out.....

I am hard-charging... wanna see my creditcard statement?

My tool does swing (rather like a metronome,) but I try mightily to keep it from getting frostbite. It may come in handy someday, and considering size DOES matter (something you wouldn't know, Geo,) I don't want any parts to freeze and fall off.

Anyone else from the Vail area headed down?? Drop me a line at mgehard@yahoo.com if ya are.

There will be 8 of us staying at the cabins... Hopefully our boy Dave Roetzel will be competing again this year!!!

Was up in East Vail (firehouse) this weekend and it looks like a couple more weeks for that stuff. I'll post some pictures so you can take a look.

Hey, how come nobody ever asks what men wear under grass skirts (instead of under kilts!)?

I'm reminded of a song that mentions a blue ribbon.

If you don't know, don't ask!

We're so good to go with this gathering! Here's the latest update to the roster:

sandbag - deposit plus
tradkelly - deposit
sean - deposit
reno - deposit plus
jasona - deposit
El Vez - paid in full!
skibabeage - paid in full!
neeshman (x2) - check's in the mail!
sharpie (x2) - ditto above
mtngeo - a definite commitment
kcrag - ditto above
soulstice - a definite maybe by December if she doesn't spend all her money in Switzerland!

We'll keep this list dynamic, and if anyone cancels, there will certainly be space available. Again, whoever pays gets a space, first come, first served!

The condo is beautiful, and we'll get a concensus as to when we'd like to have a group dinner. Might be Friday night, might be Saturday night, but it'll be something wonderful, guaranteed!

Skibby
Oh I see how this works.....you have to be one of the special "Payed in full" people to be listed as attending the gathering....I'll be in my truck with a big grin on my face!!

well, my kiddo will be out of school that week, so i'll porbably go but havent worked out if the kiddo will be in tow or not. (mostly depends on having the money to fly him to tx for the weekend.)

flamer - what are the rates for shared space in the truck? i like the condo idea, but $150 is a bit steep when you still dont have a job.

Okay, Telluride is cool!

And, I think Silverton is $119 in Januray, it is pretty steep (no pun).
