Is the Great Dihedral in Eldo on the West Ridge? If so cross the Milton Boulder. Yes it is a creepy crossing at best. The boulder is shiny and slabby but the holds are all there. Passing your packs over to your partner once they are across will help you with the last little section.

I was referring to the one on Eagle Rock in Boulder Canyon.

We just came off the West Ridge Sat. and the log that you can ususally climb up to get to the really slippery traverse was gone. We ended up boulder hopping across the stream about 60 ft upstream. I may use this approach in the future too.

Mike's hand may be stress fractured. He said that he was taking a couple of weeks off to let it heal. I should be talking to him sometime today. I'll ask.

Going to be going to Moab on the 14th of October and coming back the next monday. Will be doing a mix of biking, climbing and playing with the dogs. Thought I would throw it out there if anyone is interested. So far there are 3 of us going.

Edited because people are already flaking out.

I'm thinking Highlander. True, the hike up is longer, so you guys might have to sprint it.

hi, I'll be around Colorado Springs from Sept 3rd through 7th. I'm from San Diego and only visiting so I don't know any areas around there to climb. I'll be coming in with a couple of non-climbing friends.

Are there any of you close to Colorado Springs? Technically, I won't have my own car there. My friend is borrowing from his family to take us around. He can drop me off to somewhere around the area but would be less likely to drive me out of town unless we can work out some similar destination for the day. They also maybe interested to try climbing if only sport or bouldering and not multi-pitch and you don't mind newbies.

I've been climbing for about 3 years, bouldering about 1+ year. I can lead, swap lead, belay lead, and multi-pitch. Not that great with hiking so no alpine. I lead 5.8/9 trad, 10's-low 11's sport, and V1-2 boulder. I can follow harder. I can bring a rope, some quick draws, crash pad, some trad gear. Just have to tell me before Sept. 1 (wednesday) so i can prepare (flying out sept. 2).

if no one is available or close to Colorado Springs but could give me some pointers as to where to go bouldering and maybe some beta, that would be awesome. of course, it'll much more fun to boulder with others :D .

Hi: Help! I have an insane schedule (so can't be in Boulder before 6:15 or so most weeknights), and the days are getting shorter. I guess this means I need to get back in the gym. I have classes in Ft. Collins and work in Boulder so if you're up for the BRC or the Ft. Collins gyms on weeknights, drop me a line. I'm happy to belay at any level, but for myself, I like to work on 9s-10s, and occasional 11as. I'd like to get to the gym at least two nights a week.

I'm also looking for occasional weekend partners to practice moderate trad leading in the 5.7/5.8 range.

Happy climbing,
Carissa

Yep. That's what I'm looking for as well. PM me with your contact info. I've done a handful of pretty nice 5.7s and 5.8s in Eldo I could point out for you. I also know a few in Boulder Canyon.

Sounds like a lot of people are interested in moderate trad routes. There's a guy (legion) on another thread looking for the same. Shall we plan a group outing to Eldo this weekend? We can all meet up at the Mesa Trailhead and carpool in. You can partner up beforehand or when we get there.

This is what my friends and I used to do in Austin. I've gotten into the exclusive partner thing lately, but would like to join with a group again. It doesn't mean you necessarily climb with each other all day on the same wall, you just show up at the same time.

Post up if you want to do something like that this weekend, ya'll.

Hey Tim! Don't forget that you all show up for a beer together after climbing.
The Happy Hour Crag in Boulder Canyon is a good place for an after work tradfest too. Lots of mods close together and TR's can be set up.

I'm out for the weekend in Moab to get into some "sand" stone. Wish me luck and I'll try to bring back some good pics.
I may do this again.

That's one Boulder Canyon area I was thinking about. There are some nice, easy trad leads there as well as some harder bolted lines.

Dementia is the left facing dihedral, isn't it? Man, a hard line. I cleaned a stuck booty cam from the top once.

Holly--I think Jeremy and I are going to head back up to Boulder Canyon after work. His attempt to fly last night wasn't enough, so we are headed back up that way. Guess I shouldn't tell him that I kept my eyes shut the entire time. I couldn't bear to watch.

Now if I could just get that damned Pink Floyd song "Learning to Fly" out of my mind.

I have to be on Pearl Street at 7PM for a date, but otherwise, I'm open. :) If you want to hit the gym in Boulder - sounds great. I've never been there and will need directions. I would love to hit the gym though.

Sidenote: Foot has healed much faster than first anticipated. On a whim, I went out climbing yesterday with Killclimbz. Good belay and lead. Foot is fine and ready to crag. Made plans this evening because I thought I wouldn't be able to climb. Who knew?!?!?!

If you want to go to the gym - give me a buzz. 720-635-2825.

See ya,

JD

Sweet! I'm thinking i'll be there around 6:30 (give or take). I'll have a newbie in tow, but she's catching on quick. It would be nice to have a third (and a good solid belay that i can trust).

Kim - nice catch. i would have let him fall an extra 10 feet just for being a pig. (sorry jeremy, but you know you are.) hope to see you guys at the gym if it rains.
