Just picked up a New England Ropes 200footer, dry 9.8mm. For some reason, this one costs less than the non-dry regular 50m 9.8mm. Go figure. http://www.sierratradingpost.com/xq/asp/base_no.69150/dept_id./est./qx/product.htm --chauky

I bet if you were using it properly you wouldn't have "almost dropped someone" **learn to use your equipment properly!!** Rather than be a dumb #@#$ and pipe in too early, READ THE INFO ON YOUR EQUIPMENT!!!! Petzl says that a Gri-Gri is to be used on a rope 10 to 11..., but people do use it on 9.8's NON-DRY. In fact, the maker of the rope is in talks with a company who has a device to be used for the 9.8 Don't be a moron and tell everyone to just "learn to use your equipment properly". When a Gri-Gri does NOT LOCK on a small rope (as designed), nor provide the friction of an ATC, there's not much you can do. Letting my partner down was the scariest thing b/c every time I fed the rope, it just ran through. Seriously, get some common sense. Saying to "use your equipment" properly is more than that...GET EDUCATED FULLY about the equipment. Not many people know that you should NOT use a gri-gri on a 9.8 (even though all the *stars* do). I'm trying to INFORM people by an almost drastic mistake...way to be a @#$@#$@#$@#$#@#$

wow...you guys are complete idiots...I try to educate people on why even Petzl says not to use a 9.8 rope (non dry at that) and you delete it. And people wonder why rc.com is full of morons... Seriously...read the specs on a gri-gri. 10-11 mm ropes...the "stars" use the the 9.8 NON-DRY rope on a gri-gri. The "dry" coat makes it way too slick, so the gri-gri doesn't catch...even feeding does not give enough friction on the rope. There's a new device out for the 9.8s they are testing. Looks good. Use an ATC instead of a figure 8 for a 9.8 and how long till this gets modded

www.moosejaw.com has a big sale going on. Right on the front page, they list the coupon code "SUPERSALE". Using this, you can get a Sterling Marathon Pro 10.1mm 60M Dry for $146. One of the best rope deals I've seen in a while!

In reply to: In reply to: Beal 9.4 70m and 9.7 60m dry and normal in Sierra Trading Post, great for your redpoint attempts. We need 70 m for many routes here, and the 9.4 is not held by the grigri, so i passed, but they are a great deal, I own the 9.7 and it has a very soft catch plus edge resistance dude, you are clueless.....stinger's are awesome for everything (as long as you're not some 200lb fat-ass) and they SURE AS HELL will catch in a gri gri...that's all my lazy ass uses. jump on this deal quick if you need a rope!! Watch out or some 200+ lb fat-a-- might just pound on you scrawny head
