What, no mention of Pictured Rocks in Iowa?? Rumney, Gunks, anything along the Minn/Wis. border, Moab, Yosemite; in no particular order.

Realistically, compared to the rest of the world, Bishop doesn't really stack up. Top 5 in the US: Indian Creek Hueco Yosemite I'm guessing the two other most worthy are the Gunks and The Red River Gorge. The first three are included in lists of the best climbing in the World, not just the US. Hate to say it but places like Bishop, The Needles, Sierras, Red Rocks , VRG, etc, as great as they are, are outclassed by Hueco, Yos and the Creek.

Yosemite Hueco Indian Creek Joshua Tree These are also on a list of greatest places to climb in the world and are unique in that they represent something that you can't find a better version of elsewhere. They stack up on lists that also include things like Rocklands, Fontainebleau, Ceuse, Grampians, Castle Hill.

In reply to: sorry to sound like an idiot... Too late. This is based on enjoyable climbing, likelyhood of good weather, and overall atmosphere: Smith Rock Valley Saint George Indian Creek Red Rocks

In reply to: sorry to sound like an idiot but which "valley"? There is only one place worthy of being called "The Valley" - and it's in California -

my list isn't too different from most of the others. Just my five favorites. Going on overall atmosphere as well as quality climbing Indian Creek Smith Rock Hueco (yeah, the atmosphere sucks, but, hey, it's hueco) Maple Canyon Squamish (I know, not in the U.S., but I hate the Valley)
