To the spineless, gutless weasel who stole my draws off of "Ripcord" at Avalon in Boulder Canyon yesterday (Sunday, Aug 07, 2005), I curse upon you the following: Guano Covered Holds, Flaky Partners, Flesh-eating Offwidths, Butt-clenching Runouts, Spinners, Choss, Scary Clips, Forced Bivies, Stuck Ropes, Living in the Midwest, Elvis Legs, Dropped Gear, Greasy Slopers, Leaky Tents, Wet Sleeping Bags, Irretrievable Cams, Core Shots, Hail Storms, Bad Topos and worse Beta.....and that some spineless fcuknozzle like you will rip your gear some day. For the record, we left Avalon at dark on Saturday and came back Sunday afternoon, way less than 24hrs later. If anybody saw climbers yesterday morning on Ripcord or, more likely, rapping from the 5.9 to the right to snag the draws, please let me know and/or if you know them, please tell them that those draws are over 5 years old and have held their fair share of whippers......and I will know them when I see them. Skanking gear that's obviously not bootie is BAD, BAD, BAD KARMA!

you should put tracking devices in your gear  (also, check local clubs or something before you get mad... they may have thought they were doing you a favor and bringing them back to you)

I was up there around 1-pm and they were gone. There were a number of people on the easier routes to the right.

You still have your creativity--a good idea at that too. I was just saying that this is an impressionable site, so you may start seeing your silver here and there.

So everyone is talking about the bad karma that removing project draws will bring upon the theives... But what kind of punishment should be brought upon a person that is caught with stolen draws or gear for that matter? Somethings to start with: 1. Clipping every carabiner stolen onto said theives genitals, then hanging them from the top of the route the gear was stolen from until the skin from the genitals tears away and the theif falls on their head...

What crap! There were a lot of people there during the day, but I was there at ~9:30 close to Ripcord and there were no draws on it when I got there. There was another car parked across from Avalon, but I never saw anyone else until about 10:00 when the place got crowded quickly. I would have to assume that the draws went missing late Saturday since no one seemed to be around before 10:00 on Sunday morning.

We were the last group out of there on Saturday and it was getting dark by the time we left, which was half the reason I just left the draws. Apparently the thieves get up early in Boulder.

You left them hanging there. You GAVE them away. Can you honestly say the thought that someone might snag them never crossed your mind?? Do you lock your bicycle? Why do you place pro? Because you MIGHT fall. Why should you clean your draws? Because some crack head might steal them. You rolled the dice. Take better care of your gear or man up.

Do you lock your skis while you're taking a piss at a ski resort? Do you lock your tent up while you're off cragging? Same idea. Get it? Yeah, some jerk MIGHT walk off with your gear, but in both cases, ethics tend to be fairly honorable. Get a better metaphor or man up.

wedgy's point is that you left them there overnight. Would I expect my skis to be stolen while taking a piss? no. Would I expect them to be stolen if I left them out overnight...I woudn't be surprised. It sucks that your stuff was stolen, but it's a reminder that many, many people do not share your ethics and will intentionally steal/unknowingly booty your stuff. At least it was draws and not, say, a trad rack. I hope you find your stuff.

It's just really sad and really lame that climbers steal from other climbers. What if those draws belong to a friend of a friend? Then word is going to get around, and everyone is going to think that you're an asshole. Don't steal from other climbers.
