Bugger! We're gonna miss the Rendezvous by a matter of days.... should be heading up there the week following though. Hopefully they'll be some stragglers that we can meet up with to climb. Jay, you'll be there, right?

I'll be there - whatever one I was at last (#2?) was a blast! And Kachoong, whenabouts are you going to be there? I'm an ex-Queenslander, and it would be cool to meet up with someone from down under again. If you're the same kachoong that hangs around on qurank, then I think we probably have some mutual friends - Lee, Niel, Phil... Will

Kachoong, I'll be there all week, after the rendezvous, until Saturday the 27th. The New is like my home crag, we should meet up and tie in, let me know. Mark

Yep, I'm the same one and I know them lads! I'll be at NRG with my sweetie probably the week following the Rendezvous, but we're not sure on a definate day yet. We'd like to be in the area for at least a week.

Sweet! I think I'm most likely going to be living/working at the New this summer, so we should definitely be able to meet up. Also, I looked at your profile trying to figure out if we'd ever ran into each other in Australia or if we had mutual friends, and I saw that you're currently in Texas. Texas is where I'm originally from, and most of my family still lives there. We seem to have a lot in common! Will

You guys can team up and climb Arapiles Please. Also Bubba Down Under. I thought there was also a "Bubbas at Arapiles" but maybe that's actually in Australia, not the New. Please advise http://www.wirednut.com/...mages/ana_meadow.jpg

Unabonger, what climb is that? It looks pretty good! Man, you know us climbers are bad when we see a photo of a pretty girl, and instead of asking who she is, we ask what piece of rock she's clinging to. Will

Looks like the 10d/11a at Second Buttress, that starts by climbing up in a huge dish/hueco.

Im looking for a little advice from some of you NRG regulars about the rendezvous. See, here's the deal. Myself and possibly two other people are gonna be trotting around WV during the week before the NRR, and obviously plan on making the New a huge part of our trip. I was just curious how friendly ya'll are to those of us who aren't "locals"? I noticed that most of the people posting in this thread seem to know each other, so I get the idea of a pretty tight knit community which is great. I also noticed on the official site there was mention of not trying to grow the event at all. I was just curious if we'll be welcomed, should we decide to end our awesome roadtrip by hangin out at the NRR for a day or two? I can't speak for my friends but I know I'll be glad to make any contribution you're asking for since I know the climbing we do in the New will be worth it. Thanks for any feedback. Peace. Colby

I don't live there either but have climbed there a lot. The locals and climbers that live there are very friendly and pretty much welcome anyone in with open arms. Stay for the event, you will not be disapointed! -DD-

don't worry at all, everyone is super friendly and welcomes everyone. they don't the event to grow really because there's only so much room at Burnwood for camping and parking, and also the event is free - though they really push for donations - but they can only accomodate so many people for those reasons. don't let that keep you from coming and having a great time - just only bring the friends you really like  hope to see you there

dondiego and kasharp, thank you so much for your input. i kinda figured the NRG folks would be my kind of climbers, and you helped assure me of that. I'll definitely plan to be there, since i'm already gonna be down there, and can't friggin wait to meet some awesome new people, who also happen to be climbers. wicked. i'm so stoked to get outta classes and head down the road this summer. just out of curiousity, are any climbers from the central/harrisburg, PA area planning to attend? I wouldnt mind putting a face with some of you who frequent this site if your gonna be around. peace, colby

Hey Chalker, when are you planning on coming down to the New? I'm planning on being in the Lancaster, PA area working before the Rendezvous, then heading down either tuesday night or wednesday night to help with setup and other various things around Fayetteville. I could be pursuaded to leave earlier. Haha. Like everyone said, WE (meaning everyone coming to the Rendezvous, it belongs to all of us!) are an all inclusive, super friendly bunch and this is one party you don't want to miss! Just be patient and cooperative when parking and do not drink and drive and everything else will take care of itself (oh yeah, throw a few bucks in the NRAC jar to help pay for those bolts you're clipping and the best climber-parkservice relationship you could hope for). I'll see you there! Mark

Mark, If everything goes according to my plan I will be leaving the homestead on Friday the 12th or Saturday the 13th. I havent decided exactly what kind of agenda I will be following during my stay there, but I would be more than happy to link up with you while I'm there, especially since this will be my virgin voyage to the New. I also wouldnt have any problem helping with the rendezvous if the extra couple hands are needed. Just out of curiousity, what are you doing in Lancaster? I only ask because I live "relatively" close and there's decent climbing in the area if you're going to be around for any extended period of time before the week in question. PM me sometime and we'll see what's up. Either way I'm super stoked for the NRR! Peace, Colby

Oh yeah and I thought I should add that I just got recruited for the "No-Fun-Juice" bar so anything you might have liked help with before the event is still game for me, but I'm going to limit myslef to one service during the weekend. Peace, Colby

A couple buddies and I from Annapolis will be there. That's a week before our graduation, so we'll be ready to party. I wonder does the climbing ability increase with alcohol intake like the normal invincibility levels when drinking at sporting events?
