In reply to: Charley, it's not wet at all! The weather reports for here are almost always bad and it's almost always better than they say it'll be. Nobody was here last weekend, 'cause the weather report was s---. Saturday ended up being one of the best clibing days this spring! The current weather report for the 'Vous is actually not so bad -- I expect good weather! To you folks who have not heard back yet for volunteering, Wendy tells me she just sent out some emails last night, but if you didn't get one, just pop in when you get here. We're still looking for a few "floaters," who can slip silently from job to job like the wind. There will be jobs to go 'round! I just want to clarify. After receiving Wendy's email I'm a "floater" not a "paddler"--I don't want some crazed rc.comer running after me trying to play whack-a-mole with my head screaming "Kill it! Kill it!"

Weather hasn't been great here at the nrg, but the routes are pretty much dry, and I have had a couple of killer days so far. Just hope my skin holds out for the weekend!

:P That's crazy talk! Yesterday and today were great, except for one brief squall. And of course, the storm that just blew through a minute ago... Lots of set up today, and folks are already arriving. We had a little pre-Rendezvous with the volunteers who were here last night and three folks from NY -- the first guests of the 2006 'Vous! Some of the set up got trashed by high winds about an hour ago, but most of it is fine and we'll fix it up right first thing in the morning. We've got a slight chance of rain in the forcast for tomorrow, Saturday looks to be perfect and Sunday, too, until storms blow in sometime late in the afternoon. Come on down! (or up... whatever.) :D

waterstone's website is DOWN!!!!!!! oh the horror! THE HORROR!!!! I think I remember the directions, but it would be super awesome if people knew of a mirrored site with all the same info. Anybody happen to still have a list of the clinics that were taking place on Sunday? Friends wanted to sign up, but they didn't get to see the list. I have: self rescue crack climbing technique warrior's way (sat and sun) There were about 3 others though. Anyone happen to know? I understand the crack climbing clinic and Sunday Warrior's way are filled. I am sure all the info will all be at the hospitality tent too. See you all tonight

Yikes! Looks like Water Stone's server is overloaded. The Rendezvous is on the Summersville side of the New River. If you're coming from the south, cross the bridge and then make the first left. If you're coming from the north, go almost all the way to the river and then make the last possible right. Look for Canyon Rim Visitor Center signs and then turn the opposite direction off route 19. Everything else, you can learn when you get here! I just baked a cake. That's right, bitches. I. Baked. A cake. And now I have to run out to Rendezvous-land and wrap up some set up things. I already met crimpergirl, BTW. We had a raucus dinner last night at P&P, foodfighting with Mal Daly, Arno Ilgner, Doug Houten and Kenny Parker. Much pizza was eaten. There may have been a beer or two involved as well. IT'S ON.

email elaina_arenz@msn.com to sign up for the clinic. Also stop by the hospitality tent when you get there. I have not been to the NRR before, but it seems as though the campground will not be closed. If it is closed....then there will be plenty of people there to give you directions to another place. I would suggest not worrying about it until you arrive. Space will be found somewhere.

Nobody did a play-by-play from their cellphones? Lame. Rendezvous kicked ass, thanks a lot Jay and others for organizing it. Who all was at the self-rescue workshop this morning? I know there had to be a lot of us rc.commers there 'cause when Craig mentioned people arguing about the cordolette on teh intarweb about 10 of us chimed in with our opinions on that massive thread.

Props to the NRAC crew. Maura, Kenny and Elaina actually looked like they were having a little fun, and down time thanks to the quality folks who stepped up to help make the NRR bigger and better this year: Wendy and Jay, Heather, Ryan, and scads of people whose name I didn't learn. The weather said it all...blue skies, moderate temps and sun!

I had a blast. The clinics were well worth the lost days in climbing. I can't wait to get back to the New and put some of it to use again.

Never, and I mean never, have I partied with so many RC.com people in one weekend. Thank you all so much for coming out and representing this site as the group of caring individuals it is! wes_allen (first!), neuroshock, kubi, microbarn, climbinganne, pornstarr, charley, betaben, dontmaytagme, chalker7, crimpergirl, arnoilgner, maldaly, boo, cccman (phlsphr, did we meet?) and many more showed up to lend their support to the biggest ongoing re-anchoring effort east of the Rockies. And that doesn't even count the locals and semilocals, like kasharp, mr186, skobotin, wurst, mulcahy, nrgroscoe and more. For the second year in a row, we lucked out with perfect temps and blue skies! I even managed to get out and climb a bit Friday and Saturday. Friday I only had a couple hours so I ran to the Bridge and bummed rides on topropes. Thanks to several folks who let me tie in, I managed to lay down six routes fast. Saturday I climbed with cccman and boo at Fern Point, sent a long-time hit-list denizen of mine and got on two new (for me) routes, one of which I never would have touched had boo not insisted! I don't yet have a complete tally of dollars raised, but you can bet your ass it was another huge success in NRAC's ever-growing list of them. Late Saturday night, I grabbed two donation boxes and counted out almost $500. Just from two boxes! :D Big, big thanks also to the event sponsors who made this unbelievable shindig financially possible, the clinic leaders who brought it big time and the volunteers who worked their asses off. (How are you guys gonna wear harnesses without asses?) Big ups to Odub who came out and spat rhymes, once with SEC board member Lee Means! Lee, who knew you could throw down like that?! Jeez, man. Not to be outdone, Fayetteville's own Sockmonkey shook the pavillion, too. Remember: next year, due to changes in the park's Management Plan, we will not be able to collect any money at Burnwood. Ssssooooo... NRR 2007 will be by entry fee only. I assure you, though, we won't ream anybody. The entry fee will be as low as possible and will still seem like a paltry sum to cough up for such a rocking good time! I wanted to post some photos in here, but I was so damn swamped the whole time, I didn't take a single picture. Hopefully some of you other cats will pick up my slack.

Great times at a very well done event. J_ung and the rest deserve a big round of thanks, no doubt. Climbed five days in a row, sent some cool routes, fell of the last moves of some others, and had a very fun time overall. Must get back to the NRG more this year! I have some, ok, a few hundred, photos. Will try to get them sorted and posted over the next couple days. And, if you all are looking for something to do this weekend, we are having a nice event at the red as well!

I am soooooo tired. Great weekend. J_ung, I have no idea whether we met. I met so many people--even crimpergirl--goddess of rock--she of the bloodyknee immortalized by wes's pic. All I know is that the combination of red bull + vodka + band featuring some old guys that ROCKED the house (unlike lame closing act) = dancing phlsphr (one who is normally dance impared). If there are any pics of THAT they may need to be destroyed!

awesome pics guys! :D i seriously had such a blast, so glad that everyone could come out. and being a "local" now is the greatest thing ever... you should all move to the new! or don't, cause then you'll be crowding the crags and it's nice and empty during the week right now  ok, i'm just on a bit of a high from having an awesome time at the rendezvous and enjoying my time out here right now. not enjoying the crazy sunburn i have though, no climbing for me today :( also - congrats to will (crankingclimber) who won the trad comp. alright, enough cheesiness for today - keep the pics coming if you've got em! :D
