Well, I'd definitely ditch YOUR girlfriend in that situation.
MY girlfriend would have made it up the trail no problem, and then hiked your project.
As for YOUR problem, you're both ridiculous. She should have sucked it up and gone up, you should have cared more and helped her out. Please, for everyone elses sake, stay together. You're great for each other.

Sounds to me like you are dating the wrong chick. If you like climbing and she won't even do the hike, you don't stand a chance together. My guess is if you left her, she was probably on the way out the door anyway.
I actually had a problem similar to this with my wife. It happened on the hike up to the pond at Queen Creek. Now, that is a bit different than just a class 3 in my opinion, but the situation was the same. We drove all the way up there only to find she was NOT going to up the approach. Needless to say, i had to set up a makeshift belay and had to bribe her with future purchases of jewelry to get he to make the final trek.

I shared this thread with my boyfriend. If anybody knows what it's like to have a girlfriend who is a snivveling, unmitigated pain in the frickin ass who needs to be coaxed through trivial shit... it's him.

Was the OP wrong? Ultimately, yeah, probably. Was his girlfriend having such a pissy fit that his reaction was justified anyway? Could be. I've been saved from myself a few times just to make the bawling stop but it's not like I deserved it. I just got lucky.
Would I have ditched myself in an instance like this? Likely.

I reckon you should have stayed with her at let the others go on. Not only is it the right thing to do, but chances are she would have worked up the courage to continue on. Even i she didn't, imagine the fucking hot sex you would have recieved that night for being her man that stuck by her side.
Believe it or not, but I'd opt for hot, steaming sex over a climb...that only lasted a few hours. Mega hot sex only comes once in a while. All you had to do was chill out with her and make her feel guilty in an indirect way. Hopefully she'd even say "ah go on, go have a climb. I'll be alright for a while". It would take a while but I'm sure it would happen.
You'd still be tapping that arse hard later that night. Might even be able to work her cousin into it too.
In conclusion...you fucked up, numpty.
