Indy won with a field goal on the first drive in OT. Nice bedtime story though. Sorry, it was Week 15 '04 against Baltimore. Kyle Bowler threw a pass which was intercepted and returned 72 yards. Manning was one TD from tying the record and took a knee four times. Yes. With 59 seconds left. Pats have not scored in the last minute of a game they had in hand this year either. But that's beside the point. Manning then scored # 47, 48 and 49 the game against San Diego the next week. Marino's record was 48. So he would have had to score TWO in that last 59 seconds of the Baltimore game just to tie Marino, three to break it. Yes he took TWO knees (not 4, BTW. First at :59, second at :18 )but he was not "on the verge" of breaking a record, he knew he had to go into the next week anyway.

I really want to see the undefeateds lose so we can see how the LSU defense handles Oregon's hyperfast spread. That would make for a fun BCS championship game.

But you gotta keep in mind that those kids are 22 and 24 (I think that's what I read) and they should be able to fend for themselves. So are you saying he should resign because he needs to focus on his kids or because he can't possibly be an effective coach when that stuff is going on in his personal life?

Easier said than done I know, but sounds like they needed some tough love. I guarantee after all of his success in the NFL, he has no problem giving his players tough love...maybe he could've used some of that on his own kids.

And last year the managed to win without two of our top defensive weapons, Harrison and Seymour. Your point? And today they also did it without their leading rusher, Sammy Morris, who was lost for the season and put on IR two days ago. And Indy started the game with Gonzalez. Not New England's fault he's fragile. You can try and cheapen it all you want. Fact is that Indy had New England down by 10 with 9 minutes left to play and they couldn't finish. The Pats finally figured out how to give Brady time and the Colts "Rush four, play Nickel all game" game plan finally broke down. And the Pats Defense finally STOPPED giving Manning time to throw, sacked him, hurried him and pressured him. Even at the end, all they had to do was keep the Pats from a first down and get the ball back with a minute to play. On second and 4 the colts DB's game Wes Welker a 7 yd. cushion. DOH!! Squeak my ass!

My point, since you apparently couldn't read, is that I would be more proud of my team if they had beaten the other team when both were playing at full strength and their best. Hard to get excited when you beat a team that isn't at full strength. YMMV, of course. But nothing really means much until the playoffs.

Every team has to deal with injuries in just about every game. Using it as an excuse or trying to take away from a win is pretty silly, unless a team is really depleted.

Might want to go back and read that part again.
