And I just cancelled my ticket... I'm crushed. I'm not going to make it this year. I can't even express how upset I am right now, but financial crisis is piling up against me. I'm looking into a weekend in Ouray later in the year, or I might just have to save it for next year. I miss you all so much, I'm sad, but it's what I'm being forced to do, unless I win the lottery in the next few days, then I'll be there.

Aw, hell, Mark. Sorry to hear this. Ron's right.... won't be the same without ya. I give you my solemn word that I shall drink excessive beers in your name, and will do my level best to abscond with a set of New Belgium beer glasses. Heck, I might even try to cop a cheap feel during the rave party, and when I get slapped, I'll just tell her "It wasn't me, it was my buddy Mark!" Word.

Hey Mark, you're part of my Ouray tradition...I will definately miss you! If you can afford the rest of the trip, start hunting for people that fly all the time, or someone that buys a lot of stuff on their points card. Then charm them into letting you use their frequent flyer miles that they're never going to touch. Trust me, it works! Good luck :)

If you're disciplined enough to do it, using a points/air miles card to buy things is a great idea. I use mine for just about everything. Groceries, dinner out, beer, utilities, rent, gas.... EVERYTHING that costs more than a couple bucks. Then, once a month, I mail Visa a check for $2500 or so to bring my balance to zero. I think I get somewhere around 40,000 miles every year. But ya got to be absolutely diligent and disciplined about it. You can get behind in a big damn hurry if you're not.

Just putting this out there folks. I'm going to be in Ouray from the 3rd until the 11th. I'm not worried a bit about finding partners, but I don't have any. So if you want to make plans with me now instead of me walking up to you and saying "hey, do you think it'd be cool if I climbed with you" every frikken day, then send me a message. I'm an ice noob but my learning curve is going straight up. I'm currently leading WI4 in most cases and can follow anything. I'm getting a bit more consolidated every time I get out. I'll be better by the time I get there than I am now. Let me know.
