Falcon Closure info
In reply to: Rumney - Peregrine Falcons have taken up residence on the Summit Cliff. The entire Summit Cliff (including “Flea Surgeon” and “Northwest Passage”), as well as the Asylum Cliff to climbers’ left and the Monolith to climbers’ right) are temporarily closed to climbing. All other crags, including the Main Cliff near Buffalo Road are OPEN. Cathedral Ledge -Peregrine Falcons have taken up residence on the northern end of Cathedral Ledge. Routes from climbers' right of "Cathedral Roof" to climbers' left of "Diedre" (including "Repentence" and "Remission") are temporarily closed to climbing. All other areas on the cliff remain OPEN. Your cooperation is essential if these birds are to nest successfully. Peregrines are protected by both Federal and State laws. - Chris Chris Martin, Senior Biologist, Conservation Department New Hampshire Audubon, 3 Silk Farm Road, Concord, NH 03301

In reply to: I think the typical MA climbers list contributer has a lot of the stereotypical yuppie attributes. Right on! Die yuppie Massholes! Viva la exodus! Whatever. My state is [insert comparative here that I contributed nothing to] than yours is [even though you've contributed noting to yours, neither]. Eric, you're getting crotchety. You are old, your kid climbs harder than you, and you both climb harder than I (ever will). VT guy, thanks for livening things up. MAholes, take a joke already. VT guy was just having some fun while Vermud thaws and half of Maine returns from winter in Florida, and half of Mass burns dinosaurs and road rages away an hour at the Hampton Tolls en route to Kittery to pay 1% higher sales tax and pour half a bottle of vinegar on delicious clam strips at Bob's Clam Hut. Yeah, I said clam. Jealous?

I was there both days this weekend, yesterday was perfect, sunny, no bugs, just warm enough. I was surprised there was no-one there. Had the place all to myself. in other news, the current rock season is a-borning, and I am looking forward to more mornings like this... good times...

Not only did it fall (late last fall) but someone went Rambo with a saw cleaning it up. I hane been using the shallow stump and decrepit roots for an anchor - raises more eyebrowns then just using the tipped over tree like I used to.

HQ Viddy from last saturday, cruising "Exercise Left to the Reader" at CR. the weightlifting is paying off, it felt easy, for the first time in about 3 years (and even with the messed-up fingers).

Anyone need a partner this weekend? I'm looking to plug gear for the first time since last fall, so I won't be climbing hard. Gunks? Cathedral? Fri-Sun? Greg

I can't actually do anything during the day on Friday, but thanks for the heads up. When I mentioned Fri-Sun above I was speaking more about leaving after work Friday evening.

crap. both the bane and boon of my alternate fridays off. looks like I'm packin' up the rope-solo kit... its gonna be beautiful weather, hope your partner search is fruitful. in other news, My GF Pam came out to College Rock last saturday, put on some shoes and roped up for only the second time ever. made a good effort on one of the easy butresses. from tiny acorns, etc...

Learning to Aid and Jello's big day is up to read. I accidentally left out the part of how I met Sungam - he was walking around in his boxers after trying to swim downstream with the Colorado River. He thought it would be easier to swim with the current than to walk.

No probs. Monday night I ordered an Edelrid Eddy, actually, to add to the rope-solo kit. if I like it, you interested in a lightly used Wren soloist? ;-) rope solo is a whole 'nuther mind game.

My ankle kept me from actually climbing. It was a productive trip, though.

I have a difficult time handling that much driving and climbing in that short of period (get sick easily). Would love to split drive duties with someone, and then I'd be game. PM'd.
