What's proper decent technique off the summit? do you Rap off, or downclimb? Or just search out a decent trail?

I prefer to "downwalk" 8)

Ok, so whats better for FAing a 1.10c/d Mad Rocks, or 5.10's?

Do I get to add a few grades if I take it at a run in 6" stiletto knee-high black PVC laceups? I think I have the FA of crossing a street in Chicago in this way. I named it "Heidi, Heidi, Heidi of the Urban Jungle, Watch Out For That Cab".

and another thing. Those of you who use sidewalk chalk, i witnessed someone who spilled it and left it all over the walk. As I find it unsightly, would you people who do that please clean up your spilled chalk?

My project is this sweet 1.13. The crag is real close to my apartment, so I can hit the pave at least a couple times a day. FA was about 10 months ago and I make it clean most of the time - always have a problem late at night. I do not suggest drinking and walking.

It's a real problem where I'm from. And it's really bizarre because it falls into weird shapes. Sometimes it's boxes with numbers in it, rainbows, puppies, and over by the abadoned crackhouse in the shape of a human lying down on the floor.

all the bolts had draws on them, and it wasn't like it was simple to get to, i mean after all the route was like a 1.13d.

Have you seen this new portaledge? Perfect for walks up to 1.4, designed for FW (first walk) made by seniors, you can seat on them for hours, up to 3 -4 persons :

I'm afraid to use those. Most of them have "In loving memory of..." inscribed on them. I'm a big believer in karma. I'm not sure, whoever it was must have decked last time they climbed the route in front of it. Or even worse, maybe they had the balls to free solo a 1.13...

WOO HOO!! Gotta join this bash! Last week I got a clean send on a single pitch 15,840' route in my neighborhood. Only ranges 1.1-1.10d or so but takes some endurance!! And I did the whole thing in my Tevas!!!

I was just wondering if there were any other barefooters out there.....After soloing some really sketchy stuff in down in detroit a few years back I graducated to completly free form walking. I think I can barefoot on a good day around 1.12b, depending on conditions.

aid walkers are pretty weird.

the dumbest example of aid walking is those moving walkways that they have in airports. They turn anything into a 1.0-. the trick to making them technical is the walk against the movement.

Okay, now I'm pissed. I checked out a new place nearby that people have been spraying about, and it's ridiculous. First off, there are tick marks everywhere with a blatant disregard for people trying to get the onsight. Then there was a ton of trash piled up on a key "curbside" hold, then lastly, f-ing DWP came by and spray painted all over the place. Of course it's still not as bad that chossy chipped pile of nonsense by City Hall - place looks like a jackhammer has been put to the stone. F-ing chippers ruin it for the rest of us!

p.s. Which shoe is best for slopers? 5.10 or Boreal?

It was a dubious accomplishment to say the least, but as I scored the FA long ago on an X-girlfriend of mine, I had the privledge of deciding her rating and gave her a 3.9. (There was some problematic scrambling involved in the adventure.) Looking back now I'm willing to admit that that 3.9 was something of a featherbag as I was overwhelmed with an easy assent do to my lack of experience, shotty technique, and low confidence in the placement of my protection...but at the time, you wouldn't have caught me attempting a repeat performance without at least chalking up first. Nothing so surely fractures the ego as a mid-coital decking caused by a dangerous combination of overzelaous dynos and slippery holds.

Sadly, all embarassing clumsy relationships must come to a close, and--although she never stated a rating for me--I sure looked like a 1.2 when she walked all over me on the way out the door.

Nah, that was the time I was trying for the redpoint on your mother. Just changed my mind as it was clear that was a sport climber's route.

Just sent the 1.11a route I have been working on for months now. I can at least say now that I have lead solo! Yeahh! The crux move actually is at the start with a large step. Did not think I could ever master it - but I did.
