I was taking about this with my girlfriend the other day, and I'm curious how you guys and gals feel about it. How many partners would it take for you to consider a man or woman a ho? In order words, if you were going out with this girl (or guy), and you found out that she (or he) had X partners before you, what is the minimum value of X for which you would think, "Holy crap, what a ho!" My contention? For guys, more than 30 partners make you a ho. For girls, more than 20 partners make you a ho. Oh, let's also assume we're talking about people in the age bracket 25-30. One final word. People, don't jump on the PC bandwagon and give me that crap about, "Her/his past shouldn't not matter," or, "Men should be held to the same ho-threshold as women."

Two questions: A) Why is the number lower for women - and don't give me me this "men shouldn't be held to the same threshold BS" or this arrogant Canadian/American prick/???? will come over there and smack you silly b) Who got paid

I don't make the rules, I just live by them. Of course, you could talk to an evolutionary biologist and (s)he would probably give you some pretty compelling reasons as to why men are not, and should not be, held to the same standards as women when it comes to sexual morality.

You're preaching to the wrong choir here. My educational background is Evolutionary Biology and Physical Anthropology - and I don't mean I took some courses in school, I have my Ph.D. I can give you some excellent arguments on both sides of the equation as to the BIOLOGICAL issues involved, however, this is a MORALITY issue in todays society, not a biological one - you seem to be confusing the two - OH! no you're not - In reply to: why men are not, and should not be, held to the same standards as women when it comes to sexual morality So, not only can I disagree wid da playa - I can call da bluff on his game - and honey, since they are NOT da rules everyone lives by, ya don't gotta play by d'em.

In reply to: ...My educational background is Evolutionary Biology and Physical Anthropology - and I don't mean I took some courses in school, I have my Ph.D... D-OH!!! Edit: Just wanted to add that much, if not all, morality is predicated by evolutionary biology, so it is acceptable for me to blur the line between biological issues and moral issues. For instance, it is morally wrong to procreate with your sibling because such a union will likely produce unhealthy offspring. It is morally wrong to kill because killing is, in general, bad for the species. I would continue with this but two things are keeping me from doing so: one, I will probably not win such an argument with someone who has a PhD on the subject; and two, I have to now go to the Y and swim a mile. Now can we please get back on the subject?!?

It's not the number that matters, it's how many you can remember.

In reply to: It's not the number that matters, it's how many you can remember. You only have to count it if you can actually remember their names. Grow up. Who cares? I'd say it's individual. If they give you a number, and your jaw drops, and you start to feel a little inferior on the sowing of the oats scale, that's your problem, my friend. You asked. Save the awkward questions for something important like..."Have you been tested?"

Hey, some people just like sex...nothing wrong with that . Doesn't make them a 'ho. As long as the sex is good and you're being safe with it, does it really matter how many partners the other person had?

I'd like one, just one guy to step forward and agree with what Beth has said here, and say that he would not think his girlfriend was a ho if he found out that she had had, say, 80 partners.

Good point. BTW, do you know what headline UK's The Sun carried for Madonna and Guy Ritchie's wedding? Guy Weds Whore. Besides, I really doubt Madonna has humped 80 guys. Any woman sweet enough to write a children's book called "The English Garden" could never have done something like that, right?
