yeah. they provide a false sense of security while increasing the liklihood of accidents and putting everyone on the highway at more risk. They guzzle gas like none other. Furthermore, most are not even designed for true offroading. Unless you are one of the .01% of SUV owners that actually takes your vehicle into true 4x4 territory, you are a completely selfish elistist prick with a severe inferiority complex, a midlife crisis, and apprehension about your penis size and your wife's fidelity. Actually, let me rephrase that. ALL SUV drivers are pricks, even those who do go offroad. In response to any and all justifications you have for owning one of these prick-mobiles, I say, "buy a minivan, SLUT!!!!" yeah. "but camhead," you ask, " do you not also drive an SUV? I believe that you drive a 1985 Toyota Landcroozer that gets 12 mpg on a good day, do you not? Hypocrite!!!" feh. I just done bought me a new car today. Toyota Tacoma two wheel drive, damn near 30mpg. I have adopted the moral highground and all ye sinners shall hear about it for the next six months at the very least. I am fricking WITHOUT SIN, I have been born again, I once was Saul with a gas guzzler, I am now Paul with a sensible vehicle, and I urge the rest of you SUV owners to also give up your vessels of debauchery and join me in reducing your waste of our planet's precious fossil fuels. so there. what do you suckahzzz have to say for yourselves?

I loved my 1988 chevy K-Blazer, and I did use it off-road all of the time. I loved it untill the head gasket blew. I now drive a '79 volvo wagon. Its my adventure wagon, known as the v-wag. What other car has a payload of 1200 pounds and gets 22 miles per gallon? I do miss 4-wheelin' though.

You want one so bad you can taste it, camhead. A Tacoma? That's like a sad old man buying a used Camaro.

I used to have an 86 toy truck. Got 18 mpg, now I have a 94 dodge dakota. Better off-road, better gas mileage, better power, and smoother. What the hell is the interest in Toyota anyway.

Right on Camhead. Welcome to the world of better gas mileage. I drive a Saturn Sc-1. Gets great mileage. Handles suprisingly well on dirt roads, albeit I can't take it on any really serious offroads cause of clearance issues. It's never broken down, was hit by another car and totalled last spring, I made them put it back together like the Six Million Dollar Man and it's been good as new. I always get coworkers and others ask "if you road trip so much and climb so much, why not get an explorer or some other SUV?" I tell them no need. I have all I need in my lil Saturn.

I originally got it thinking I would be going to Mexico in the mountains a lot, like I did in my old POS Trooper. But it turns out I haven't done that. I wish I had a nice 4-door sports sedan now or a Subaru sport wagon. Anything lower to the ground that is more fun to drive. Trucks blow for driving fun. And my Frontier is exactly the same thing as an X-Terra. Same frame, engine, tires, suspension, etc. Only difference is the body.

This thread is v funny for a non-merrican. How do you guys manage to build cars that are so slow and get such sh*tty gas mileage? How do you get such lousy power out of such huge engines? I take it only the very worst engineers are allowed to work in the merrican car industry? Example: The 2003 Lincoln Navigator. It has a 5.4 litre V8 and takes 10 SECONDS to wheeze its way to 60. It's top speed is only just over 100mph. That's amazing. Okay, joking aside, why would anyone buy a car that slow? Wouldn't you get incredibly frustrated by never being able to overtake because of lack of power? What happens when you need to get someplace quickly? Do you walk insetad or something?

In reply to: how about the torque, baby?! Yeah, what about it? If it still doesn't get the car to accelerate faster than that the speedometer needle is moving across the scale in sync with the sun moving over the sky... (0-60 in 10s  )

Torque? 286 ft/lb. In a vehicle that weighs over 7300lb?!?!?!?!? That's pathetic.

Whatever happened to MG and Triumph? Aren't Jaguars made by Ford these days?

The Buick Grand National has an impressive V-6 that puts out V-8 power. But the body of the car is a breadbox, much like the Navigator. It would be unwise to let either car go over 110, since body lift (for the GN) becomes a problem.

I agree somewhat with the first post but your still a friggin dick man. This false elitist jackass mentality is no worse than driving an SUV. Buy a Subie wagon. 4 door. Fast. Handles well. Great roadtrip car plus the AWD. About 28 mpg on the hwy. Plus you can sleep well in it. Clearance is not bad and it's not like I'm going on some fukin safari. oud

In reply to: In reply to: I agree somewhat with the first post but your still a friggin dick man. This false elitist jackass mentality is no worse than driving an SUV. Uh-huh. Well, if the Subaru Wagon is your idea of a really fast and exciting car, then that's what you should drive. I just happen to prefer a car which is a little more fun to drive, and even know how to use a "stick shift". That's all. Good comeback. Never said really fast and it is fun to drive. It's also a stick. Good post "tradman". Don't think you got mine? Hope it's raining on your little parade as well. The truth hurts eh. Fuckin know it alls on this site always seem to stick your damn foot in your mouth. Oud.
