:)

Well, despite the fact that my family will disown me for missing yet ANOTHER thanksgiving, I'll tentatively say I'm in. I'll broach the subject with them and see how well they take it. If I'm still alive afterwards, we'll say that it's a definite.

I think I'll be bringing my skis down, though, in case we get hit by snow again!!

 MY 100th POST :!:

Charlie: Come on down man, it'll be a great time. My best thanksgiving yet was down here last year!

Rob: Can't guarantee the weather, but can guarantee lots of fun games to play if the weather goes to hell.

Maybe Kimmy will host a wine tasting shindig like she did @ Nelsons.... (sorry kimmy, i just dimed you out...)

That was Annie's thing at NRP.

Me, I was just the liquor supplier at the last Turkey Day bash.

Anyway, to all who are contemplating it, this was a great time. It was a rather small gathering, which was nice in a way, we did lots of climbing, had a GREAT dinner (we all chipped in and made a part of the traditional T-day meal...you have NO IDEA how good smoked turkey tastes after a day of climbing) and sat around the campfire.

Fun times.

I have a lantern, but neither of my partners can go until Saturday, and that's iffy. :(

That puts my attendance in doubt.

Hey guys - check out the NH Ice climbing gathering in december - it'll be kinda small - but it's good for anyone who hasnt climbed ice before or wants to climb in the whites on some great multipitch ice.
a place to crash in the house for 3 nights is $200
gear and guide is $75 per person per day

can camp if you want and just party with us @ the house.
Check it out.
See you guys on T-Day.

Anyone going to be at Seneca on the 22nd (monday) or 23rd (tuesday). I was planning to swing by (to climb) on my way up to Pennsylvania for Turkey day.

"Seneca RocksOct 9
Seneca Rocks is famous for moderate multipitch traditional routes as well as being the WWII training ground for the Army Mountain Division. Some of the great names of climbing have passed this way, and some of them still can be found enjoying the beauty and quality of the Rocks, a set of enormous Tuscarora sandstone fins protruding 300ft above the scree. The summit of the South Peak, a mere 10ft wide, is reputed to be one of the tallest requiring technical climbing on the east coast, rising almost 900 feet above the valley floor. Seneca's relentlessly vertical routes have a reputation for being stiff for the grade and almost invariably offer wild exposure.
When it's all over and done (for the day, anyway...), stop in at the Gendarme, just behind Harper's Store in the Seneca "Y". This is a great place to hire a guide or instructor, stock up on tape, chalk and gear, and/or learn some history of the area from John Markwell, proprietor and first person to open a climbing shop at the Rocks (the original shop was in a van). John is usually found presiding over the front porch of his shop or re-educating newcomers inside. The message board located there is a great way to hook up with your partners, report hazards, or look for lost gear.

Down and still itchin' to crank? Head over for one last burn on Tom Cecil's climbing wall, where you can also get gear, guiding, instruction and beta.

If you're looking for a single campsite, group accomodations, or RV hook-up, grab a shower and kick back in the Shadows of Seneca, the NFS campground located on the ridge directly behind the Genderme. To reach the entrance, drive east on Rte 33 from the "Y", look for the entrance, about half a mile down on the W side of the road. Find your site and then check-in with the camp host in the Amphitheater.

Yearning for a real bed, some privacy, and a space of your own? Try Princess Snowbird campground, with individual suites or private cabins. The campground entrance is located N of the "Y", just beyond the bridge, on the left. Chill by the creek or gather under the pavilion to enjoy the scenery or watch other climbers at play on West Virginia's Great Lady.

Whichever space you settle in for the evening, do yourself a favor. Wander over to that group of beta-spewing maniacs and introduce yourself... they're climbers, too, and at Seneca, many of us are family. The climbing community only survives if we keep reaching out, creating bridges, keeping the lines open. "

hey everyone, i hate to say this, but i am not sure that i will be able to attend this year. i was on a motorcycle ride wednesday when i was rear ended at a traffic light. to sum it up, i have 2 busted ribs, severe lacerations on the face(yes, i was wearing a helmet, but it blew off on impact!), muscle damage in my right calf, and ligament damage in my left knee. so climbing is definitely out! and i am not really sure what the doctors will allow me to do. if anything changes between now and then, i will let you know. again, i am sorry, i was looking forward to it. take care and hope that you have a good time!
