Dank U Papounet! Here is an update. Thanks to over 200 generous donors from 4 countries (so far) we have roughly $60,000 in cash. A few other generous individuals have come through with loans, so.....WE ARE SET TO CLOSE ON FEBRUARY 15TH!!!!! :D This does not mean we are out of the woods yet. We still need donations to pay back the loans. Keep 'em coming. This outpouring of support from RC.com and elsewhere has reaffirmed my faith in mankind and especially in the climbing community. You folks are wonderful! Hope all of you can come check out Laurel sometime after it opens up later this year.

I'm glad to hear that the money for the closing was raised. As soon as my income tax comes in, I will be donating a lot more.

I will indeed be posting trail days. As soon as we actually close, the CCC Laurel Knob Committee will meet (probably over beers immediately following closing in Asheville) and set some days for trail building, lugging the kiosk to our property line and doing a route maintenence survey. Any and all help with manual labor would be appreciated. In the meantime, let's keep chugging towards getting this thing paid for! I fear that once we close, interest will be lost and donations will slow to a trickle. Keep your fingers crossed.

Well I already donated my $50 a long time ago, but if you need any basic GIS (computer) mapping work done (i.e. maps of trails to be built/routes etc.), I would be more than happy to help you all out.

So we are 4 days away from closing. Can Sean, or someone in the know, please provide a more detailed update of the situation. I checked the Carolina Climbers Coalition website but there was no update.

Gunksgoer- Thanks. Nothing I like more than charitable trusts! Update- still scheduled to close on 15th. Spoke to lawyers office yesterday, they are finalizing the loan documents for our investors. We will raise the thermometer on our site post closing so we have a truly accurate number. We have made tremendous progress in four short months, thanks in large part to RC.com'ers. We still have a long way to go to get this magnificent cliff paid off though. The CCC is hitting the EORA Trade Show in Greenville, SC this week. Industry interest seems pretty high based on results from the SLC show last month. Keep the personal donations coming and in a few short months y'all are welcome to come try some big wall routes southern style! Sean Cobourn

Now that Jack Osbourne is a climber, maybe someone from your organization should try to contact him? I bet he could help... John

That is actually a good idea. How does one contact the climbers of Hollywood? Jack, Stallone, Cruise, all made money off of climbing, would they give something back in return? Michael Mann made Last of the Mohicans, in part at Rumbling Bald and Table Rock. That Michael Reardon guy is a producer and climber. If someone could get me contact info, I'd talk to anybody with a checkbook. :D
