Anyone up for Chuting on Berthoud Pass for Saturday. Vince, those second creek chutes will be looking pretty ripe. We should go get 'em! 8^)

Gary, you still out there? I wasn't able to get in contact with you Fri. so I made alt plans and soloed/skied Mt. Democrat on the East face above Kite lake. :D Are you still planing on skiing Shavano this weekend? Interest seems to be dwindling.

Sorry Vince, My pods came into town earlier than expected and I ended up entertaining them on Saturday. Shavano is still a plan. Partly cloudy and 61 degrees forecasted for Saturday in Salida. Do you know what Campground we want to stay at? I was thinking of going down in the early afternoon on Friday and setting up camp etc. I would also like to go nab that chute behind Peck at Monarch on Sunday. I could do it Friday if someone has that day off.

Again, nice job with the pics. We would have had more if I would have pressed the right button. ...The weather was beautiful and the skiing was really good. I can reccomend this trip as long as you find the right trail head, like Gary said the hike in was tough! Should be the right conditions soon to do another one. WOW, I can't get enough of this stuff. :D :D :D

In reply to: How long was the hike in you guys? A friend and I are doing this the weekend after this one. Make sure you get the right trail to the Couloir for one. I would say plan on 6 hours to make the summit. It should take a lot less, somewhere in the 4-5 hour range, but it is really easy to get off route on this one. It would've really helped if one of us had done this before. There was another group of skiers doing the Angel also. They left before us and got just as lost. We actually topped out on the Couloir ahead of them as they ended up climbing the same ridge we did but not as directly.

With all this talk of ice going on, I just started thinking about how I can't wait for some of the fluffy stuff to fall. I am sure the usual suspects are in for this season. For anyone who like to ski/ride BC and looking for partners in the Front Range. This is a good place to start. All the ski sales hit next weekend. I am ready for some POW! http://i2.photobucket.com/...005/Nopowderhere.jpg I am starting to feel the STOKE!

Theres been a bit of talk about mentoring newbees. Well here I am. Looking for a partner to get out on the upcoming snow but my experience is mostly WA ski areas with a little back country. I'm knowledgable of snow travel and avalance rescue but need someone who knows the local terrain and risks. In colorado springs but am up for a drive for a good weekend in the alpine.

blakej, just watch the thread as more snow comes down. You can jump in with the crew, you will need the basic beacon, shovel, probe and sumptin to put it in. Vince

And if you need to get the basics you'll probaby find the best deals at Patroller Supply for beacons and other snow safety equipment. The BC season is just around the corner. I am feeling it. Get your crap sticks ready, cause the best mud and rock riding of the year is coming up.
