there was no mention in the advert that it was a religious school

I see, so can we take it that you'd prefer such persons to have to clearly declare their religion to you? Say, by wearing a yellow star?

Dave, there are some days when you are SUCH an ass.

Well, you just stop that right now! There will be NO joking around here! Especially when it comes to faith issues! Haven't you noticed?

Unless, of course, you're an athiest...then you can kid all you want.

Actually Dave, you do a fine job making yourself look stupid without any help from me. Anything I add on is just gravy.

I saw on some news channel a few weeks ago that a teacher at a Catholic school (here in the US) was fired because she and her husband used IVF to conceive.

Ridiculous.

...I don't know the Churchs' position on this. I do know several Catholic Families that have conceived using IVF. I don't think the Wash. D.C diosece would have a problem with it. I will endevor to find out.

update...according to a friend in the know concerning catacism. The churchs position is basically one that IVF is Pro Creation and therefore not acceptable. ....while I don't agree with this,I do understand how they developed this position.

Madriver: Why is pro creation non acceptable? I believe their stance is that if you're unable, then it's God's will that you not bear children.

I love how "God's will" is assumed. I see them as control freaks forgetting the fact that we're supposed to have free will (or is that a belief of Catholics? I grew up Protestant).

acacongua...

heh...I'm the wrong Catholic to get into interpertation or philosophy with. But I'll try this. Basically...yes...if you can't have kids naturally then you were not put on this earth to have kids. Adoption however is permisible. Anything that requires an unnatural act would be considered a no-no. Catacism is complex and somewhat strict. While I am Catholic, I am by no means strict. Wether or not I pay for this later...I'll let you know. I am sure that wasting my time here and posting naughty things has hastened my purgatory.....

love always

That's why you should switch to a non-purgatory religion. :D
