And after 30+ years of subscribing to Climbing, I have terminated my subscription. Climbing used to speak for the masses, not the near misses. Jeremiah, for what gym do you work/guide? This is a fair question considering your public stance. So, who is it that has hired you?

I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but Jeremiah has not posted since page 2. Greg, I know you want to save your blog, but it might be a good idea for you, too, to let it die. Just sayin' Josh

Use the Firefox add-on YesScript to turn turn off javascript on sites that you do not want to financially support. The Brotherhood of the Dopes is not getting any ad revenue from me. Jay Thanks for the reminder. Forgot to re-install it when I updated.

Despite the mess, I've actually still recieved a fair amount of PMs from folks saying they like the blog and will continue to read it. Jeremiah is in Chicago on a family vacation with his girlfriend, parents, and sister(s), but he and I both decided from the beginning to not allow a repeat of the Brotherhood thread. I personally think that neither of us have said anything in this thread that was remotely as inflamatory as what was said in the Brotherhood thread. In fact, I think we've both been above the fray. I'll have another blog post out in a few days for those who do enjoy reading it.

I've only done new threads when there was something completely new (the moab thread, the yosemite thread, the colorado thread were all trip reports).

We played some sharks and minnows, did an obstacle course, and played a rope swing game called Peanut Butter and Jelly. I happen to kick ass at this game but my team lost for only like the second or third time all summer. It was rough! Maybe I should start a blog to let people know how hard the "guiding" life is. Josh oh man... i haven't read this whole thread yet, but... sharks and minnows is fun.

Does anyone else think we have some sick intardwebs http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M%C3%BCnchausen_syndrome_by_proxy going on between gymburns and his buddy. It seems that greg can't stop tossing old jeremy under the bus to get some attention for himself and to get people to actually speak with him.

sethg wrote: So I'm trying to present this as a friend: take down that post about the guiding life. It might get Jeremiah fired. No employer is going to want a guide who writes on the internet about courting danger. Furthermore, if you ever have an accident while guiding and someone decides to sue, you will rue the day you posted that stuff. That is all. Because, by all means, the guide world shouldn't lose that one.

Blogging is an excellent place to allow your writing to mature, though I don't think I'll have the time to stay current. I doubt this matriculation will happen until you can step back and gain some objectivity. Why are you writing this? Who is your audience? What do you expect to gain from using the present tense? Your reality shouldn't need that much gloss. After all, your life is better than my vacation.
