I couldn't figure out what that meant until just now. I was just too lazy to search and too proud to ask before... or something.

I'm beginning to think they don't know what it means either because I'm quite certain the answer is no.

Perhaps this will be the beginning of a kinder gentler whorefest, one where we can all ++ together like one big loving family?

Hi everyone,

A few days ago we started noticing severe load issues on Rockclimbing.com with the database server getting overloaded, causing everything to back up and queries to slow way down until the site falls over. We traced the problem to a few very long threads in the Campground forum. So unfortunately we have to lock all threads with more than 25,000 replies, which includes the following:

Klownjaya's sulking thread.... -- 96782 replies
The Lounge™ -- 26571 replies
Sty's Post Count Increaser -- 25993 replies
PeeeGhey Tea shop...less tempting? -- 25029 replies

I've created a new thread (called "PART 2") for the first 3 threads above (which are still active), with a link to the locked PART 1 thread as the opening post.

Sorry for the inconvenience. And congratulations for taking us to the limit. Smile

No offense but I'm calling BS.
Do you really think that the long threads have nearly as much gravity on the speed of the site as the THOUSANDS of pics that no one has looked at in 8 years (or ever?) or the videos that have 0 views?
For that matter, having drop down menus, while practically useless, probably slows shit down as well. Of all the pointless, memory eating shit on the site you decide to take out the things that were used the most, by the most people?
Seems like working backwards to me.

Actually i think ddt has a point there.
In many other forums i visit (and i suppose the3y are based on similar software) threads get locked after they get a certain (much much smaller) size then the giant centipedes over here. Of course just because others are doing it doesnt make it right automatically, but i guess they do have a point.
Maybe its just me, but campground is the subforum that takes the longest to load!
And i am not shure about the technical background, but arent all the photos and videos that you mention rather static (as you said, no one looks at them) whereas the long threads are not.

But i would be really curious what exactly cause the slowdown. I probalbyly wouldnt understand, but inner geek wants to know Angelic

It's not just you. I've started to notice an appreciably longer (3x perhaps) load time for campground compared to the others.

Of course campground also has the largest thread archive. Not sure which the slowdown is actually a function of, the length of a few threads or the overall volume of threads.

Good to hear that your pop-ups are working well again. Not that everyone doesn't block them anyway.

Tool.

Have you considered assassinating youself for the glory of Allah? I hear he's tossing out harems like they were party favors.

Its worth a shot anyway.
