So I'm pretty bummed. I was going to try to go to Korea with Nathan, and even try my hand at a world cup event (not expecting to do very well, but what ever), but getting my passport renewed in time will be almost impossible. Stupid passports. Obviously I need it to go to Montana this week, but one you go in for renewal your current passport is instatly no good. It pretty much means you need to accept that you won't have a passport for two weeks during the process. At least Canada finally has 10 year passports now instead of having to go through this bullshit every 5 years.

Another possibility was to go to Italy, which would be okay but not as cool as Korea (plus the competition would be much stronger in Italy than in Korea). I already commited to leading a Chix with Picks ice climbing weekend with the Alpine Club of Canada though (which I really want to do).

Don't they have expedited renewals? What if you mailed your paperwork the day you go to Montana, so the old passport is still good, and within couple days they will receive the paperwork, but you will be fine by then? And yeah, first-world problems...

And yeah, first-world problems... If I could do that then the regular two week period would be fine, but they take your old passport and clip off the corners as soon as your application goes in. I'd have to wait till after Montana, except we're going to Minnesota for exmas. That leaves me getting to the passport office on the 27th (assuming they're even open) and expiditing it to have it by January 3rd. That's only 4 buisness days (assuming the government work on New Year's Eve). I could still do it in 24 hours for an extra $110, but with all the other little things I haven't gotten done (registering, finding a pair of fruitboots to compete in, etc) I've gotten a pretty bad case of cold feet. The passport was kinda the nail in hte coffin.
