This may or may not be a suggestion.
I know that many of you are growing tired of the many 'points' discussions, but this will probably the last you will hear from me on the subject.
I was just wondering one day whether or not it was a possibility for the authorities of this site (administrators etc) to award users with amounts of points. I was also wondering whether or not it was a possibility to be awarded extra points for becoming an authority of this site.

Yes, Admins can award points to individuals, but this rarely happens.
And yes, whenever a person recieves more "responsibility" here, they are automatically awarded points. The purpose of the points is to gauge who has contributed to the site. It's not perfect, but generally it shows who has added some elbow grease to the site.

Yes, I was just wondering about this when certain users were receiving rather large amounts of points in rather small periods of time. When they were augmenting in irregularly large amounts of points, it got me to wondering...

Check their profiles, they're either adding mass Routes, or are submitting mass "highly rated" photos. Nobody has been awarded points "manually" on my watch, about 5 months now. It's all done automatically at ~10AM PST.
There are no favorites here, that would be unfair. And, there are some who would have points removed, if that were the case.
