Can we have a calendar feature that lets us post open invitations on road trips or get togethers that covers all events for each region?

There's a Forum for the planning of events. And there's a Forum for Partners that's divided into regions. A calander that showed where who would be would be too conjested with 14,000 users.

I was thinking a cross region calendar would be helpful, since people from one region may road trip through a different region and want to get in on events/gatherings in local but unformilar region. Or, two road trip groups could cordinate and link up from different starting points. Ex. In J-tree I was disapointed that I worked so hard to get a camp site only to leave it at the end of the trip without handing it off to other RC.comers who I knew were in the area. I believe this wouldn't become too difficult to manage with 14,000 users. Of the 14,000 users you now have, I bet only a small percenatge are active posters. And even fewer of those posters go on road trips or are interested gatherings.

You offer a nice suggestion, but it's not as easy as you'd like it to be. This site is need of coders for even the most basic of tasks, of which it's barely doing. Creating something like this, to me, wouldn't seem entirely feasible at this current time.

When I built the existing Events functionality I realized that we could expand it to include much more detailed information. We could limit the ability to add nation-wide Events, which would appear on the front page, to Event Editors only. But anyone could add an event of any type for local areas. You would be able to see these events if you went to the regional pages or if you did a search by user, state, or area. This would also be connected the forums so that you could create new topics that were related to a certain Event. The other cool thing about this is that if an road trip became that big, then we could just change it to a national event and it would appear on the front page for everyone to see. This would be really cool for advertising local climbing events too. Organizers could go in and enter info about a climbing event in their area. In the state pages you could see what was happening in your area in the next few months.

Thanks I've been getting a lot of PM about this suggestion. Your way sounds like a better format than a calendar. Thanks again, and keep up the good work.
