Sooo... How many routes in a day have you done? Or I guess you could answer in pitches, too. But I'm mostly interested in the number of 1-pitch routes you've done in a day. That mreardon or whatever guy who did the 300+ routes at Joshua Tree in a day... Daaaang... -Tristan

Mike (mreardon) did 281 in a day at Josh I think, not over 300... But it might as well be. He's an animal, and fun to climb with. Just got an email from him yesterday, so wait till you read what he has been up to lately... Just one thing, is he free soloed the 4 pitch 5.11d Atlantis in Needles, Ca.

there was a couple of lads tried and managed to get 1000 routes of E1 or less done in a day. between the 2 of them they managed. on gritstone though so the routes are usually 20m high.

As far as Mikey (mreardon) goes, he did 280 picthes in JTree in 19 hours. This included a 12c onsight and a 13a.. they were also free solos. for more on Mike, see the Breaking News page of rockandice.com. I personally have never done that many pitches in a day. I don't know how Mikey puts up with me when we climb together. I usually last between 6 and 8, I've done more I'm sure, but yesterday 6 felt HARD (granted 4 of them were in the 12+/13 range). UGH. I'm glad today is a rest day.

15 - 20 70'-120' routes down at NRG, Endless wall. I couldn't imagine doing more than that. We were dead by the end of the day.

Trad, 11 pitches in a day, I think. Sport, probably around 20, mostly moderates.

Here's a link to Mike's most recent ticks: http://www.rockclimbing.com/forums/viewtopic.php?topic=64807&forum=33 BTW... "1,000 routes in a day between two climbers..." ??? Please clarify, as there are only 720 minutes in 12 hours, so if they did it during sunlight, athat would average 1 route every 1 1/2 minutes, to do 500 routes. Sounds a bit like BS to me.

You know I've wondered this same question before. Depending on the place, I average around 6 to 8 different climbs in a day. I was feeling pretty good about doing 12 different single pitch routes in a day....many with laps. I sometimes just count total meters climbed in a day. For me this shows that I can't even come close to climbing as much vertical with separate routes as I can with multi pitch. So this leads me to one conclusion....I should just be climbing more multi pitch!!!

I don't usually do more than 6 or 7 a day outdoors... I'm just having too much fun with my friends, usually.
