My username might sound a bit pretensious but Hell is just the name of a crag 30 minutes drive from where I live. English speaking tourists seem to find it funny that they pass Hell hotel on their way from the airport to the city.

Well, "Atanarjuat: The Fast Runner" was an Inuit-made feature-length (3hrs, actually = torture-length) film about a native legend that did amazingly well at the Cannes Film Festival. Like many artsy films, it rapidly disappeared into obscurity except among some esoteric circles. I watched it. I don't know anyone else who has . . . or anyone else who has the patience. So, in short, "atanarjuat" means, very simply, "the fast runner," and that's who I am. I'm a terra-firma endurance athlete. At the end of games or races, whem everyone shakes hands, I often get a "Hey, nice running!" So I started using this as my user name. Climbing doesn't come as naturally to me, but I'll race you to the rock!

In reply to: if you know any other 14 year olds that do 5.12 dynos, you let me know and ill make a new name  Kids like you are a dime a dozen. Shoot, I can stick 5.12 dyno and I'm 6 years older than you, what's the big deal? Virtually EVERY dyno is a 5.12 dyno. That's the start line of an all points dyno. It can only get harder from there. perhaps boulderingmediocreboy would be a better moniker for someone so unremarkable as you. As to my name, I needed a screen name (as bean pole is far too common) so I noted a magnet attached to the desk I was typing from. It had two sides, one said "Feed Pets" and the other said "Pets Fed." The idea was that after you fed the pets, you'd flip it over so it would say "Pets Fed." We hadn't flipped it back to "Feed Pets" in at least five years, but it was the first thing I saw. 4 years later, I found this site. In any event, if you see any posting by petsfed on teh intarweb, its undoubtedly me. Or someone highjacking my account.

Well I had been out the day before climbing in the rain, then the next day my partner wasn't too stoked to do it again. I sat at home wishing for sun and decided to hop on the computer when I came across RC.com. Name was simple...the only reason I was on RC.com was becasue of the wetrocks outside and I'm usually only cruzin the site when I get rained out.....like today!!! :( I wonder if global warming will let me climb more? :righton:

dingus: that's a good one. For me: Hablar = to speak, in spanish; (not that I do it a lot, you can see this is one of my few posts) is actually connected to a reference from the Adam Sandler movie Billy Madison. When Billy Madison finds out that his kid friend pee'd himself he yells out "Goo". Somehow over the years, to me this became: He speaka dee GOO!!! which then became my full name, Hablar GOO!!! which I've since shortened to just, Hablar Kind of roundabout but whatever.

Some folks have guessed it's a walking style, like staggering around slowly. It's true I do, but that's not what I meant. The name came from a river and a village, out near the edge of the world.

A bunch of my friends from college liked to kid around and pretend they're from the ghetto (east bay) and so took to calling me that. I guess I could have used any of the other ones we used to call each other too (fat-man, tubby b!tch, etc....)

I got mine from a Tenascious D song:
In reply to: It doesn't matter if it is good...it only matters if it rocks, The main thing that we do is to rock your socks off. There's no such thing as a rockprodigy...cause rock 'n roll is bogus, right KG? right! The only thing that really matters is the classical sauce. That's why me and KG are classically trained, to rock your F'in socks off! give 'em a taste KG: musical interlude That is Bach and it rocks, it's a rockblock of Bach that he learned in the school called the school of hard knocks. Give it up for KG...give it up for me, Give it up for KG...give it up for me! It has nothing to do with rock climbing.

Instead of just making my name "iclimb", I figured I would be a rebel and stray away from correct spelling by making it "eyeclimb"....nah I just couldn't come up with anything else because I wasn't feeling creative when I was registering.

I'm sure it's pretty obvious but I really love scraping vast amounts of skin off during a bouldering session on Yorkshire gritstone. (and of course I'm a girlie, too!) By the way, BVB gets my vote for coolest name!!!!!

In reply to: rocknewbie was already taken, so I switched the two words...but newbierock sounded too much like FRAGGLE rock, so I added the "star"...purely tongue-in-cheek, I promise.... Well...I don't know what Maddam Trash Heap would say about that!
