Chris, I, too, applaud Carla in her efforts to start a business--it's certainly not an easy thing to do. As a fellow beginning entrepreneur, I also send my best wishes for her success. However, I think you're missing the point. She posted a message asking for our opinions, and that is exactly what she's getting. Smart move on her part, because amidst all of the stirred up emotion and nasty remarks, these postings will perhaps help her to create a more successful business--one that would get a more positive response from females (her target market) in the future.

Carla: If you are asking what the website's layout & design look like then I'd say it kicks A$$. You can really tell that someone put tons of time into peicing together the site. I didn't find any broken links either, usually a major flaw in new websites that are cheap. But your site isn't really doing much for anyone. It is well put together, it really is... but your going to need more than some chick on top rope being a posuer to sell bikini products to us. And that is who you are selling them to, us. Maybe a few upgrades in the advertising department... or maybe me and Jody as head photographs Andy

Hillary pretty much nailed I think. Amateur and unintersting. These pics absolutely suck. And frankly, I doubt very much that the person who posted this message is a woman, even though Carla is "featured" on the site. Aside from the whois info, I just kinda get that we've-been-spammed feeling. In any case, Carla, you're no "hardcore" biker. That's obvious. Further, look at the metatags in the site source code. "beautiful athletes in bikinis"... emphasis on beautiful. Stupid stupid stupid. And the women are all butt ugly.

Noting the fact that her hair still hangs straight down, I'm apt to think that the route is in fact overhanging (as gravity tends to be in effect globally). However, the fact that the shot is obviously just a few feet off the ground implies that at best the photographer was on a step ladder. Look at the cool shots posted in this thread, and you can tell who's got more experience in the non-modeling photographic world. This page just seemed like crappy porn to me. But I guess since I don't have to look at it, I won't worry about it (my views on censorship in a nutshell to boot).

If you want to see real climbing women in action, go to Greg Epperson's page. He has many a sweet shot of ladies pulling down. Some of them are chalk-smudged and have messy hair and "crux faces," but they're workin'! and strong. (he also took the shot of kcrag you've been seeing on the FP lately! ) [ This Message was edited by: climbsomething on 2002-10-17 23:06 ]

I checked out your site and I agree with the others..What's the purpose? It really seems silly. I couldn't figure out what it reminded me of but then all at once it slapped me up side the head...... Your site reminded me of GIRLS ON TRAMPOLINES from the Man Show. I just can't figure out why?? I've never even watched that show but your site reminded me of it...funny huh? Adam

As a guy it was a duty (!) to check this site. I went directly at carla's gallery, and then disconnected. The route is not interesting, the pictures are not nice, the bikini is not nice either, it's top rope... Useless site, one more...

WOW! you people are really amazing!!! I am really shocked that this site has created such a stir. First I would like to say that the girls hair that is hanging out while climbing is actually climbing The Crack located at Stoney Point, Calif, and is rated a 5.11. Next I would like to say that this site was never meant to be that of porn or women modeling or posing. Give me a break I am 46 years old and could really give a flying F--k what anybody thinks about the way I look. Saying that the women are butt ugly is just plain inmature and a cheap shot. You people who profess to be climbers are all really just stuck up, look at me and how great I am cause I can climb a 5.11 and lead, Wow, big deal. That doesn't make you better than the next person. If that's how you obtain your self worths that is sad and surely not climbing with passion. As far as REI, they had to approve the site before allowing us to display there banner on our site. How the heck do you think rockclimbing makes it's money, it is sure as hell not from your donations. Next for all you girls whom have been so offended by the images. Take a look around, MTV, games like tomb raider, not to mention the rap crap that has lyrics that should make any woman protest. If you want to protest about something or get really upset then start doing something about the stuff around all of us. Now you don't have to worry about your presious climbing reputations, because the site will be either taken down or replaced. I would like to say I am very sorry that I have offended anyone, my deepest apology. I truly had know idea that this would create such an impact. Thank you, Carla

You said it yourself Carla. "If anyone seeing this message could have a look and let me know what they think of it(good or bad I can take it)." How you reasonably expected that you would not get negative critcism and we would be impressed by anyone toproping a 5.11, is beyond me. I'm used to seeing mad skillz (TM) exhibited, like 5.12R on lead, not somebody toproping a (in the case of the model named Kimberly) 5.11 that looks like it eats gear. Finally, I wonder where you heard that we were terribly interested in what you're selling. If you think this is such a niche market that you want to get into, then why are you being rude to your potential customers? "You people who profess to be climbers are all really just stuck up, look at me and how great I am cause I can climb a 5.11 and lead, Wow, big deal." Really polite let me tell you. I'm gonna let it slide though, so long as I never have to hear about this ever again.

Quote: Next I would like to say that this site was never meant to be that of porn or women modeling or posing. HUH?????????? Then why did you people put on bikinis and POSE? Why are there "Model bios" and a "Model search"??? To be quite honest, I really don't care if you want to be bikini models -- as you stated, there are far worse problems out there. But why can't you just be upfront about what you're doing? What is this site actually intended for -- that is a question you keep refusing to answer! You brought it to our attention, now tel us what we're supposed to get out of it. Quote: Saying that the women are butt ugly is just plain inmature and a cheap shot. Agreed, that was a very hurtful comment and irrelevant. Quote: You people who profess to be climbers are all really just stuck up, look at me and how great I am cause I can climb a 5.11 and lead, Wow, big deal. That doesn't make you better than the next person. If that's how you obtain your self worths that is sad and surely not climbing with passion. It's the photography they're objecting to, not the climbing. Lots of people here toprope. Buttshots of people toproping are just not very interesting and are also a dime a dozen. If you're going to present yourself as a commercial website with a gallery of professional photographs, we have the right to expect a little more.

It doesn't matter the grade of the route the girls are on... you need more than a butt shot to impress people. You need to set up and get pictures of the girls coming up the rock... Get above them, try different angles, keep the bikinis...

Yes I think your right the images could have been taken at better angles. As far as the purpose of the site, it was my boyfriends idea and I hate to blame it on him but he thought that it would be a novel idea cause nobody has done it. We also had seen women snow boarding in bikinis on fox11 news and seemed to be a novel funny idea. That's all, not meant to be anything more. He also likes to write and draw so he thought it would be cool to offer a cartoon section in the ezine area as well as some helpful tips about health such as a Fibroid Embolism which my sister actually underwent, thereby helping other women with options on health choices. He also thought that we could offer items that he has hand crafted and that would benefit rock climbers such racks that hold lots of gear and look pretty cool hanging up in a living room. He also sews so he thought swimmsuits would be another idea. He thinks all women are beautiful and look pretty doing sports, he was very inocent about it. Believe me he is not a perv or anything like that. The girl on the rock that's hair is hanging down happens to be his niece who is actually a gymnist. She was the only one who really didn't want to where a swimmsuit. Maybe we should have followed her lead.
