The most extreme case of this I have ever seen was just two weekends ago at New Jack City, a sport crag. The climber in question was carrying on her harness all of the following at the same time: a PAS, a Chain Reactor, a Purcell prusik, and a huge cordelette. Considering that at a sport crag none of these is really useful, never mind necessary, I think it we can assess her n00b probability to be greater than 99.999% Jay Like this?

climbingtrash wrote: Is he wearing a sash? That wouldn't be a bad idea. I could fulfill what is pretty much my wildest dream as a boulderer: to climb shirtless even when there's no apparent reason for it, yet still make some sort of fashion statement that no one really respects nor cares about. I could even get one that matches my toque (beanie). *sigh* Some day.

Then I am definitely a n00b, because I think that climbing is the only thing that matters.

You might be a n00b if you admit that you're a n00b... Exhibit A: However, if Steve House qualifies, then Sign me up! hosh.

It also seems the more accessible the crag, the higher the concentration of n00bs. I watched a guy top rope a 40' wall (in Eugene, OR) with half a set of cams and at least a set of nuts on his harness. Just there for looks I guess.

Yah but if I have to quote someone that quoted me then I'm a n00b again. You wouldn't do that though, would you? At any rate, I'm starting to get a little pissed that you've called me a n00b in this thread twice. Don't try to deny it; I have it directly quoted.

Technically you're calling yourself a n00b by quoting my post.
