FWIW, I'm having trouble reconciling that with both his posts and his tenancy to lash out at anyone who calls him on his BS, both in thread and over PM. I suggest you go back through a bunch of old threads he commented in and see for yourself.
On a similar note, "a little quiet" doesn't really jive too well with random FB message I got from him last night ranting about me being old enough to be his father and him coming out east to onsight all my projects. Or something like that. Kinda hard to follow what he was talking about. Note to USN: Don't drink and FB

I'm probaly digging myself deeper here but: If you take everything he says online as a joke its funny, if you take it serious you've been trolled. I will admit I got trolled myself a few times by USNAVY's jokes on facebook and it pissed me off and I responded in anger, BUT then I took another look and started laughing instead of being angry and it all made sense.

That doesn't seem hard to reconcile at all. The ability to research answers, delay responding or ignore something, preview/edit, and the strong likelihood you will never meet the people you are talking to makes it easy to be bolder/aggressive online.

Well dont bother bringing any of your gear, most of our stuff is in the 5.11 - 12+ range, well out of your ability range. We do have one 5.7 trad slab route though. It has a single move of 5.7 then it goes at about 4th class. You may find that a bit more suiting to your comfort level. If so, bring a single rack to 2".
