I am there Geo, matter of fact I'll probably take the whole week and hang with anyone who will have me.

Now, there are a few quib pro quos I must mention:

Firstly: If there is a death in my family, they are going to have to schedule the funeral later or miss me, cause I am going to Ouray.

Also: If I am needed at work that week with no exceptions... I'll be looking for a home in Leadville or Ouray and a job of some sort cause I am going to Ouray.

And furthermore: In the event that the apocolypse is upon us and the horseman are harvesting the undead, and the heavens are falling as firey silt upon our heads, I'll be bringing an extra helmet and some longer screws as the firey silt is bound to rot out the first inch or two of ice, cause I am going to mutha F-kin OURAYYYYY!1

So like... I'm in.

There will be a gallery opening during the weekend at Skol Studio in Ouray.
My work will be in it. I'd love to see it be successful. Please stop by...and bring a checkbook!
see you there.

geo...cheaper than buyin' an ad banner.

I will have a bit of everything; a couple
original paintings, some originial illustrations;
and hopefully at least two sets of 100 prints of illustrations,
so those with climber-sized bank accounts can go home with something.

Not sure when the opening is, but therer will be advertising locally weekend of I'm sure.

Mr. Geo
be sure to introduce yourself.

As far as swinging tools...
Hmmmm...sadly, years of turning down invites to try out the ice thing will probably come to an end. When in rome...

Actually, I'm looking forward to trying it out.

So, MISTER Geo has alerted me to this fine meeting of the minds. I have longed to take a peek at the ice side of things. If the JTree gathering doesn't conflict, I'd LOVE to attend, totally gumbied out  Now, to go collect pop cans and donate plasma to afford the foray to Ouray...

Been There done that!! A few years back I was a sponsored snowboarder, and believe me it's not as glamorous as it sounds. Anyway! The local Rep. asked me to attend a big Demo weekend at a resort in The U.P. of Mich. I was jobless at the time and it was a 9 hr drive. So i decided to donate plasma for the cash to go. When I got there the rep saw the band-aid on my arm and asked what happened, he was so impressed that I would do that for him that he gave me another board. He also took me out to a local strip club and "Inducted" me to the team... Oh The memories....
Ouray funfun! I have some friends who already have a large condo and are planning on throwing a huge theme party, not sure what the theme is yet but they were leaning towards a Hawaian shirt; luwow(sp?) kind a thing.

I remember a local climber telling me about this festivity and I am wondering this:

I HAVE NEVER CLIMBED ICE. NEVER!!! Obviously it would be great to show up and have some experience with Ice Climbing. But if I cannot get any experience would it be ok to show up and give it a try?

I have always dreamed of doing Ice Climbing but I live in southern Utah and we don't exactly have a "Cornacopia of Ice" down here?

I am also wondering where it is located. I know it's in Ouray, Colorado... but where is that (Northern, Eastern etc...) Thanks! I AM AN ICE NEWWWWBBBBBB AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Me: "Can I have the kids for 6 days instead of 2 so we can go to the Ouray Icefest?"

Ex: "Oh sure, will you teach them to climb sick ice?"

Me: "..well I expect they'll be picking up lots of pointers...

Ex: "..and let them wedge their sleeping bags under the couch so none of the drunks step on them?"

Me: "...well, we really don't party that hard..."

Ex: " Of course you can go, and if you need extra money for airfare, new gear or more beer, just deduct it from my support check!"

yeah well....maybe next year...fifty fifty shot...

:-(

I don't know why this board eats my smilies but it does.

Hold onto that shot, cuz its m not a dead option yet. I'm earning some trading stock as we speak, picking up extra weekends till December cuz she wants to get in some OT...still a lot of uphill to get past and if it happens it'll most likely be last minute.

If I am unemployed (looking likely, unless something magically occurs after my current contract ends) and someone can house me, I'll be doin' my damndest to get there.

Hip, hip, Ouray!

neeshman -- pack yer trash, buddy-boy, and join us at ouray! to tell the truth, during the ice fest [i:0331b96de8]isn't[/i:0331b96de8] the best time to climb -- too much of a chance to get something big dropped on your head -- but it IS a great scene. kinda' like woodstock. show up and we WILL get you on the ice, though. and, by the way ... there's some rippin' ice in your neck of the woods in the little cottonwood canyon area, i believe.

skibby -- whaddaya' [i:0331b96de8]mean[/i:0331b96de8], "keep your thoughts clean"?

Is this the same Jeremy having the art opening @ Ouray that does all of the climbing illustrations for Rock & Ice magazine? Of course it is. And of course he'll be swinging tools (if we have to duct tape them to his wrists!).
